Thornley North Box Elder County We, as human beings, are creatures of habit. I was raised in Canada, and as a student at Brigham Young I was frequently marked down in English because of my spelling, such as cheque rather than check, colour for color, and neighbour instead of neighbor. Even now, when repeating the alphabet, the last letter comes out as zed rather than zee. When I protested to my English teacher that my spellings and pronunciations were actually closer to true English language than his, he pointed out that 1 was now in the United States, and his way is correct here and now. Perhaps the same principle applies to the names we use in talking about Farm Bureau Women. We have been called Farm Bureau Auxiliary, the Womens Farm Bureau, and various other names. Perhaps at the time we intially learned about Farm Bureau, this was the corect local terminology. However, on local, county, state and national levels, there is a correct title. Labeling the proposal wrong in principle and unworkable in practice, Utah farm group the told congressmen the bill would pit one government agency against another and add to the chaotic red tape citizens often face in dealing with government. Farm Bureau president Elmo W. Hamilton, Riverton, said existing government agencies do have deficiencies and sometimes fail to administer the laws as they were intended. But this situation will not be corrected by creating another super-agenc- y in the federal government. The only effective answer is for Congress to become more vigilant in assuring that laws are administered in keeping with legislative intent, Hamilton said. The Farm Bureau leader said President Ford has sent a letter to congressional leaders on April 17 explaining his opposition to the proposed new. y and pledging an all-oeffort to weed out inefficient practices in government. Hamilton said todays efforts in government must be to reduce regulation and costs rather than to increase the size of bureaucracies.
