Show April 1972 Utah Farm Bureau News Page Theurer Elected Cache Chief Cache County Farm Bureau held their annual winter banquet in the Skyline High School March 2, 1972. Speaking at the school held meeting was Dr. Doyle Matthews, Dean of College of Agriculture, USU. Dr. Matthews described the early farm programs and related Nedra Jackson, Loretta Smith and Judy Garwin entertain. Millard Members Hear Johnson. During Leonard Johnson keynoted the gathering by discussing matters that are particularly pertinent to stockmen. He outlined the cost of range operations in connection with public lands. LaMar Monroe, state Legislator was Master of Ceremonies and conducted an interesting evening. Nedra Jackson, Lorretta Smith and Judy Garwin sang several entertaining numbers. The attendance was less than expected but the meal was well prepared and at tenders were well rewarded for being present. Arlond Hawkins, member of the Utah Farm Bureau Board of Directors attended as did Brent Hunter and his wife Farol representing the YF and R state committee. Mrs. Hawkins also attended with her husband. the day business meetings were held and T. Ray Theurer was elected president replacing A. Alton Hoffman. Evan Olsen was elected vice president and Steven Bodily will continue as secretary. A large crowd filled the school cafeteria and enjoyed a tasty meal prepared by the Cache Farm Bureau Women. Ann Matthews was elected to succeed Elda Hillyard as Chairman of Cache County Farm Bureau Women. Marjori An- The Meadow LDS Ward Cultural Hall was the site of the Millard Annual Banquet held March 9. Smith addressing the Tooele County Farm Bureau in Grantsville said about problems in government, The farther you are away from the problem, the more sure you are of the answer. Mr. Smith called for the restoration of the principle of work. Along this line of thought he sounded a note of warning that more participation in our unique form of government is required if it is to be preserved. Attending members were interested in his observation that the time will come when the basic needs of life will be more important and the role of the farmer will be more appreciated. Dennis Brown presented a talent number along with guitar and fiddle music by Pat Cook and Rush Key.
