Show f Page 3 I Talent Find Winners Named The 18th annual Utah Farm Bureau talent find contest was held in connection with the State fair on September 20th. A total of 49 numbers with 84 contest- ants were present, representing 19 counties. First place winner in the Jr. division was Peggy Bingham, a 7 year old violinist from Davis County. Peggys parents are Mr. and Mrs. C. Earl Bingham. 2nd place was won by Kym Christensen of Wasatch county, with a dance routine, and a song and dance number from Washington County presented by Sheri and John Blake won third place. Kyms parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Christensen and Mr. and Mrs. Jay R. Blake are parents of the Blake children. THEY CALL 7MT POLLUTION ? WHY, I LOVE MANURE'S ' SHAKE J ! Her parents are , Mr. and Mrs. Keith Jessop. Placing 2nd was a vocal and guitar soloist from Piute county, Stephen Roth, the son of Mr. and Mrs. ArthurF. Roth; and 3rd place was also a piano solo, presented by Rock E. Oakeson of Salt Lake County. Rocks parents are Mr. and Mrs. Russ W. Oakeson. The five finalists in the Senior division, who will compete in November at the State Convention for the trip to Washington D.C. to attend the A.F.B.F. convention are Susan Erickson, vocalist from Sanpete county, Ruth Ann Nielsen, vocalist from Utah county, Wayne Simpson, pianist from Weber county, Lenora F. Ford, pianist from Davis county, and a mixed quartet from Wasatch county consisting of J. Larose Hendrix, Bonnie A. Zupan, Danny Hendrix and Larry H. Sundblom, all of Heber City. The State contest was conducted by the Utah Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee. We are pleased to note that 12 of the 19 county contests were also conducted by the county Young Farmers and Ranchers committees. Of special Interest is the fact that for the first time we know of, we had second generation contestants. Winners of the Jr. division in Millard county were Lori, Daron, and Stephanie Smith, children of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Smith. Mrs. Smith, the former Lorene Black was a member of a ladles trio that won the division in 1958 and made a big hit at the AFBF convention in Boston. Lorene is also a former Sr. member of the State Young Farmers and Ranchers committee. Members of the State Young Farmers and Ranchers committee are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ashby, chairman; Mr. and Mrs. Newell Norman; Mr. and Mrs. Stan Jackson; Mr. and Mrs. Dennis McDougal; Mr. and Mrs. Ken Webb; Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hlcken; Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Smith; and Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Johnson.
