Is personal and family survival important in this age of possible thermonuclear 'warfare? What do you know about personal and family survival and the part played by the Office of Civil Defense Adult Education program? THESE QUESTIONS and many others may be answered if you enroll in a Personal and Family Survival training course sponsored by the Office of Civil Defense and the Utah State Board of Education. Within each school district in the state of Utah, teachers have taken time to complete a sixteen-hou- r instructional course offered for the purpose of preparing them to teach personal and family survival to the public. Each instructor will contact ' various groups, such as parent-"eacher associations, dubs, religi- ous groups, scouting programs and other civic and community organizations, for the purpose of and .instruction training. - According to the latest information disseminated by the Office of Civil Defense, Utah has ranked ninth in the nation during the past three months for the number of people in relation to population who have completed the Personal and Family Survival course. Let's Improve' this. WE OWE it to ourselves, to our families, and to our communities to be informed of the developments and consequences offered by the Personal and Family Survival course. . Beginning on January 30, a course will be offered to die Dugway Chapter of the Parent-TeachAssociation. This course will be instructed by Glenn R. Johnson who is aim a fourth-grad- e teacher in the Dugway Elementary School. Instruction will be given for two hours each Monday and er Wednesday evening, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., for three weeks in the Elementary School Mom. Mr. Callister, elementary superintendent in Tooele County, has 36 years of experience in the teaching profession. He is highly qualified to discuss die needs of the elementary curriculum. He received his education from Albion State Normal School in Albion, Idaho, the University of Utah and the University of Southern in Cedar City.- Utah Mr. Evans is the vocational director for vocational education in Tooele County and director of fpedal Federal programs. He has gained insight concerning ' the development 'of secondary curricula by serving here in Utah as secondary principal for 21 years.
