Though winter is officially over, summer is a long way from official arrival; and spring can be a period of changeable weather. Its a well known law of nature that one has only to decide that summer has arrived and take some action accordingly to cause a brief extension of winter. MSgt John C. Wondzell, our senior NCO forecaster, is scheduled to depart for Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, next month. He has been awarded the Dugway Proving Ground Certificate of Achievement, for meritorious service during the period October 30, 1962 to March 31, 1968. ftir other NCO forecaster, SSgt Charles W. Simons, is scheduled to depart for Vietnam in June. We have also had three new troops report in recently. A2C Michael W. Reece, our new administrative specialist, reported for duty on March 21. A2C Joseph A. Byrnes Jr. and A2C Alan G. Eros both reported for duty as observers before the end of March. And to relieve the expected shortage of forecasters, a new NCO forecaster, SSgt. Johnny L., Latham, is scheduled to arrive in June. So personnel ' turnover is the big news in our drop these days. . I ' ' - DUGWAY HIGH SCHOOLS basketball player awards from die Dugway Federal Credit Union were awarded to Dan Annts at left and Mike Norton by Coach Roy Ritchie. Mike received the Most Valuable Player Trophy and Dan the Sportsmanship Trophy. The presentations took place at the High School Gym March 25. This may sound like strange advice, but at Dugway it might be useful. Dugway s Meteorological Division boasts two women on its staff of meteorologists. At the present time, there are only about 30 women members of the American Meteorological Society, the national professional organization of meteorologists. Miss Elizabeth Jankus and Margaret Mooney, Dugway's representatives in this small group, have been working with the weather here since July, 1962. In her normal work Miss Jankus is involved in meteorological instrumentation studies and liaison between the Computer and Meteorology divisions. In addition to this die is also working on the modernization of the test - grids system. Mim Mooney is the supervisor of the Data Production Section. This department handles the data reduction for all field trials and alt meteorology division projects. The two women have similar backgrounds in their work, and have known each other since 1953. Both entered the Air Force during die Korean Conflict and attended weather schools to become Analyst Forecasters. Both left the Air Force in 1956 Miss Jankus as a Staff Sergeant, and Miss Mooney as an Airman First t t The date for the Tooele County Fair and a partial fair board have been selected, announced Ernest Biggs, county agricultural agent. August 18, 19 and 20 have been designated for the 1968 version of foe fair, which will be held in foe Tooele National Guard Armory, he disclosed. Mr. Biggs also announced foe following appointments to the fair board: James A. Miss Jankus spent two yean at die University of Chicago, while Miss Mooney was at the University of Illinois at Chicago for one and one-hayears. After three yean at UCLA .the ladies left with BA degrees rein Meteorology for a search project on solar energy in Hawaii.
