There are 216 detachments of the AFCS which are authorized an NCO as commander. Most are located overseas and are authorized 33 airmen or less per detachment. Currently, 57 per cent of the NCO detachment commander positions are occupied by individuals who are below either the authorized grade or skill level. Only those holding persons grades E-- 5 E-are eligible to l through apply. Applicants may indicate the type of assignment desired, ie, those where they can be accompanied by dependents, or those where dependents cannot accompany them. In addition, applicants may indicate that they are willing to accept either type. Airmen will be considered only for the type tour that is indicated in the application.
