Wolds office says the process could be an economical way of extracting oil from shale without the hazards of atomic blasts. He said the Bureau of Mines believes very strongly in the potential of the retort process. The bureau extimates there are two trillion barrels of oil locked in shale formations Airliner Oicn IN I .. - ' ; ; is r ' y S I . - ... i ROUND TRIP MEMBERS PAY ONLY SALT LAKE TOTAL PACKAGE 249.00 WHICH INCLUDES ROUND TRIP FLIGHT HOTEL POSADA DEL SOL BREAKFASTS COCKTAIL PARTY CRUISE ON ACAPULCO BAY . underlying parts of Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah. Wold said the bureau began testing the retort process because of concern about the nations dwindling petroleum resources. Currently the well has been on continuous production without sand problems for 25 months after being treated with Permaflow. There arc major sand control problems to the oil industry in prime oil producing areas such as California where there are apparently better than 43.000 oil wells in sand formations. The Gulf Coast. Texas, Louisiana, Canada, Nigeria and Venezuela all have sand control problems. Mr. Steel reports that tests and experiments conducted by Permeator Corp. in the field have shown very high results with the success ratio as high as 80 per cent. According to Steel, Permeator Corp. is engaged in an acquisition program by purchasing properties with sand problems many times acquiring the properties at almost a salvage cost and rejuvenating the production with its new chemicals. The company has also moved into an area of cooperation with oil companies in which it participates in the production increase on formerly marginal oil wells that have been brought back into production by treatment with Permaflow and Permaflex. The company also charges a set fee for treating wells with their chemicals. In all, the company appears to be confident of its ability to rejuvenate almost any well with sand or clay problems. in Our shale The to Lcaring Salt Lake Jan. 14th. The chemicals are said to be revolutionary processes for controlling sand and clay. If so, they have a fantastic potential. increases with Permaflow have ranged from three times to better than 10 times that of previous productions, according to reports from the company. The Permaflow process reportedly has a way of controlling sand by consolidating it in the reservoir and restricting its flow into the well itself and by doing so makes the well more permeable and makes it possible for greater oil production to be achieved. Not only that, but there is less operating expense and production loss, the develepers claim.
