Show OIL & MINING JOURNAL Page 8 September 29, 1969 Oil drilling in Rockies sets new high records Drilling activity in the Rockies continued to eclipse the level of a year ago, according to Petroleum Information, industry publication. The count of wells completed in the region reached 2,663 at the end of August. This is 580, or 27.9 per cent above the comparable figure a year ago. Wyoming, with 1,008 wells completed in the first eight months of the year, was far out in front and assured of a new record in total drilling, PI said. A year ago Wyoming accounted for 691 completions and reached a year-en- d total of 1,260-toppithe previous high 1 of ,221 in 1954. Highlighting developments in Wyoming during the week, Pan ng EXPERIMENTAL VEHICLE for harvesting salt on Great Salt Lake brine ponds is in the process of construction at Ibex plant in Salt Lake City. Comanche Oil & Gas just purchased Ibex and its assets for a transfer of stock. Over $700,000 in equipment orders for four-whedrive vehicles such as this was included in the sale. Field gas discovery in Sublette American Petroleum recovered 410 feet of highly oil and gas cut mud in a drill stem test 7845-793- 5 feet at its Rairden wildcat in Big Horn County, County. Sun Oil tested a flow of 80 barrels oil per day through choke at its No. 1 quarter-inc- h Rose, a confirmation of the south of Manderson. The venture was drilling below 8,069 feet on the way to Tensleep at 9.000 feet. Davis Oil ran pipe to 7050 feet at the 1 Lansdale, intended confirmation of the Higgins gas field in Sweetwater County. The South Grady Field. The discovery pumped 195 barrels oil per day from Muddy. Shell Oil swabbed five barrels of fluid an hour-4- 4 per cent its southern Teton County discovery and started drilling a south offset. Mesa Petrolium abandoned its Beaven in Natrona County after logging Dakota at 6,514 feet. The oil wells are tied to oil company pipelines and the gas well is connected to a Mountain Fuel Supply pipeline, Higgs said. Other applications would include the salt harvesting vehicle currently being developed and mining equipment in which a heavy trucks need to be maneuvered in tight spots, Higgs said. CORPORATIONS ORGANIZED & REPRESENTED also has a sizeable contract to deliver several tugs Ibex Higgs said Ibex would be renamed Rogue Manufacturing Company (R.M.C.) and would be headed by Walter L. Davis as president. Rogue will operate as a wholly-owne- d subsidiary of Comanche. Comanche Oil & Gas Corp. over-the-count- Two indicated discoveries at wildcat wells in eastern Utah and western Wyoming were announced by MM. Fidlar, president of Mountain Full Supply Co. Full significance wont be known pending completion of drilling and testing, he said. The firm recovered 1 ,850 feet of 41 degree gravity green oil during a drill stem test of its Cedar Rim Well No. 2, 10 miles northwest of Duchesne. Recovery was from the Green River formation between 7,719 and 7,813 feet in depth. The 3H hour test also produced a small amount of natural gas, Fidlar said.
