This year the heritage with families invited to make this a part of their family home evening that week. How better can we weave a fabric of our heritage, a strong fabric.... than to be- Historical Heritage Society will open the museum in the old First Ward Scout Cabin which stands on the west side of the city square, known today as the city park. Oct. 10 falls on Monday, so the Society plans to have an exhibit featuring our pioneer Historical Heritage Society of Smith fie id Autumn is a nostalgic time of year. Looking back on my own childhood memories it is always the fall of the year that brings a profile into focus. It was the autumn that brought the thrill of those first days of another school come acquainted with the lives and activities of our pioneer ancestors. The So ciety members hope to make this Oct. 10 a family night to remember. AS WE THINK of the many things that were a part of the growth and development of Cache Valley, we recall the railroad which along with other things made the mail service better. In 1871 there was only mail to Smithfield. James S. Cantwell, one of the early of Smithfield pioneers brought that mail, making a trip to Logan (usually a foot, it is said) on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It was May 1875 that the Summit School, the old Central School on city square, or some other school in the valley where you attended elementary school. ...no doubt you too have your own personal memories or profiles of those days. IT WAS ALSO in the fall of the year in 1859 that the first permanent settlers arrived on Summit Creek, later to be known as Smithfield. On Oct.
