Show ' 3 - THE GTIZEN J i ! s Larry B. On TheHome Front By Caine I i : I n Weds Jeniene Adamson California Miss 'Garbage' 1 A few very wise people have termed this bicentennial celebration as a festival. Everywhere one looks they see red, white and blue stripes, circles, even ice cream. I, for one, have had enough. It isn't even here and Ive had it. I think, pageants, programs, and plays are great. Duty are even more great if the people leave the program with more patriotic spirit than what they originally had. I love a rousing ong, a tear choked reading, a hearty dance. But a bicentennial celebration must leave more than just a memory. I really fed that since our forefathers planned and set a goal for the country they laid so much hope in, we as the future generation should compensate with our own memory building foundation for generations to follow. This may seem like a after the preceeding paragraphs of stirring thought, but do you realize that the average American, as they are literally driving down lifes highways have absolutely no place in which to throw their garbage? Now that may seem like a little thing to -- let-dow- n Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Caine Jr., of Richmond, have returned from a trip to Las Vegas where they attended the wedding of their son, Lawrence B. Caine III, and Vickie Lee Snider, of Bellflower, Calif., on Jan. 24. The newlyweds will make their home in Bellflower where Larry is attending Long Beach City College and Vickie is employed by Lucky all the people in the world who clean out their car as soon as they enter the driveway, but not in my case. If I can't find a bill, receipt, or last months church magazine I look in the back seat of my vehicle. Therefore, I think that some enterprising bicentennial group should get together, paint garbage cans and chain them to various spots along country roads. Think about it. When was the last time you saw a garbage can? I dont mean in your own back yard, I mean along streets. But, here is my point. Yes, I really do have a point. Along the back road, paved roads, leading all over this county there is very few garbage cans in which to deposit one's litter. So where does it go, in my back seat, thats where. Well, I will personally donate my own chain, lid and garbage can if some enterprising group can see the same need I can. Stores.
