Show TIIUtSDAY, DF.C. Jeniene Adamson 'Happy Birthday' I dread every- third birthday. Not that I grow three years older with every third birthday, but every three years I have to renew my drivers license. This was the third year. I obtained the drivers manual a week or so ago. 1 mean, why rush? My birthday is today. No roses or chocolates please. Ill sneeze and grow fat-teJust praise and undying adoration will be sufficient. Anyway, on with my tale. I studied. The day came when I couldnt stand it any longer and so I went and applied for said license. I hate to take tests. I remember the first time I ever went in to apply for the torture. I lived in Ogden at the time and although I had just bought a vehicle, I couldnt drive it. My brother, two years younger chauf-fere- d me around in my own car. Finally he couldn't stand it. For the previous six weeks he had gone through getting up at an atrocious time in the morning to attend his driver's training class. At the time I was in high school I missed out on this great adventure, mainly because' it wasn't available. Now, I wished I had taken it. Surely it would have made life more simple. Anyway, one day my brother took me down to the license bureau and I proceeded in and asked how I could qualify for the license. The person in charge handed me various papers and I proceeded to fill them out. My friend who also came with me, came in wondering what was taking me so long to get the paraphernalia I needed to study for the test. It was only then that she looked over mv shoulder and loudlv r. relatives and friends In a double ring ceremony performed by Bishop Harry Otteson at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Val Coleman, Smithfield, Miss Julie Coleman became the bride of Robert D. Fitzgerald, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Fitzgerald, Prest- whispered, JENIENE, YOURE TAKING THE TEST!!" Needless to say. I died. But by then it was too late. I had finished. I also passed. As I walked out of the building waving my drivers permit in my brothers face, he also died. He still drove me home. I hadn't passed the actual driving test and that was what proved sticky. I flunked. I then returned and tried for the second time to obtain said license. This time I passed only after swearing to the officer that I would never try to parallel park. The tests never get any better. The manuals become more clarified but my mind stays as muddled as ever. Im sure that the people in charge get very tired of hearing, But I know that. Why did I circle that one?" Of course theres always one who tries to point out that the TEST is in error, not them. The poor employee met one of those while I was there. Me. You know the story about the people in the parade who are marching along and theres one who thinks the other two hundred people in the parade are out of step because they dont match theirs. Thats how I felt at the time of the test. I couldn't be wrong, not after that whole week's study, so it must be the test that doesn't know how to ask the right questions. I apparently studied all the wrong answers. - on. The groom's parents honored the couple and their parents at a breakfast before the wedding.
