She is a warm, compassionate individual whose home and kitchen are always the center of activity. She was nominated, last year, as Outstanding Volunteer Leader in Cache Valley. She and her husband, Glenn, were Cache Valleys representatives to the National Foster Parents convention in Georgia Friday Date Scouts Hold Olympics 4-- H CINNAMON ROLLS yeast cake dissolved in lukewarm water 1 cup milk, scalded 1V4 teaspoon salt Vi to Vi cup sugar 1 3 to Vi cup shortening 1 or 2 eggs, beaten 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind (if desired) 4 Vi cups sifted flour (approx.) . Vi cup potato flakes (makes rolls lighter) cinnamon and sugar mixture Soften the yeast in lukewarm water. Scald milk, cool to warm. Add shortening, salt and sugar. Add flour to make a thick batter. Add yeast, eggs and lemon rind. Beat well. Add enough more flour to make a soft dough. Cover minutes. Knead well until smooth and satiny. Place in oiled bowl, cover tightly and let rise until doubled in bulk. Punch down and let rise 1 10-1- 5 again for 10 minutes. Roll out and sprinkle on cinnamon and sugar. Roll up, cut Vi inch thick rolls, place in greased tins until double in size. Bake at 375 degrees for 5 minutes. 20-2- THREE-FOURTH- 4 1 3 Vi 4 1 3 2 WHOLE WHEAT BREAD S cups lukewarm water cup sugar cup yeast cups milk cup honey tablespoons molasses (cool) scant by Alice S. Cardon . Vi cup salt cup fat 4 cups whole wheat flour 5 cups white flour 7 cups whole wheat flour Mix together for five minutes salt, fat, 4 cups whole wheat flour and white flour. Mix together the water, sugar and yeast. Add to the above mixture. Scald the milk and add the honey and molasses to it. Blend all ingredients together and slowly fold in remaining flour. Shape into 6 loaves, grease pans and let rise. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes, then lower oven temperature to 350 degrees for 30 minutes. This is for home ground flour. Store bought is heavier and you will need to add more flour. FRUIT BARS TUNA The Cub Scouts and Webe-lo- s, under the direction of their den leaders, assisted by Kimber Johnson and Margaret Lofthouse, held their annual Olympics on Friday afternoon of last week. The boys participated in such events as standing broad-jum- dash, 50-ya- rd push-up- sit-up- p, s, high-jum- p, etc. Ribbons were presented to winners in each event. Boys who participated in the activities were: Kevin Johnson, Kent Cardon, Thomas Peterson, Bart Ballard, Carl Lofthouse, Jeff Kunzler, Jeff Call, Dennis Falsi ev, and Steven Archibald. A picnic lunch was served. The Special Interest group from our wardr under "the direction of Pearl Hoopes, have been meeting once each month, me group at the home of Sylvia and O.J. Falslev, and another group at the home of Orfa and Richard Smith. During the past several months, one member from each group tells about their life history. Some very interesting experiences have been related. Among those who have been attending the monthly meetings besides those mentioned above are: Sarah Funk, Rilla Smith, Sarah Cowley, Annie Ricks, Isabelle Car-doInid Reese, Kittie Tar-be- t, Leonora Petersen, Edith Munk, Audria Ballard, Emma Thain, and Ann Thain. Pearl is to be complimented on the fine job she is doing with the Special Interest group. Zena Balls had as dinner guests on Sunday Marguerite and Denton Balls of Smithfleld, and Marilyn and Don Perkes and family of Pleasantview. Lydia Nuttall was honored at a birthday dinner on Sunday at the home of her daughter and son-in-la- Loraa and Cecil Archibald. Following their wedding there will be a breakfast at Utah State University Center, given by the parents of the groom. Both girls are from Cuba, New Mexico, and are here on the Indian placement program. Ethelyn is in the third grade and Phyllis is in the fifth grade at the Smithfleld Summit School. On Thursday they enjoyed a full day boat trip to Lake Powell and the Rainbow Bridge. On Friday they did sight seeing to Pipe Springs, and Colorado City, and then on to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. That evening they enjoyed a barbecue supper in Kanab Canyon. Saturday was a full day of activities beginning with a flag raising ceremony which they participated in, and parade in the morning. In the afternoon they enjoyed three shows put on by students of the College of Southern Utah. Bob Green Speaks Bob Green of the Senior Citizen center spoke at the Smithfleld Lions meeting Thursday evening on what the center offers senior citizens, such as free bus service, crafts are taught at the center, macrame and making afghans, games are played such as bingo, jig saw puzzles put together, pool and shuffleboard. There is a telephone reassurance program and referral service. More programs are expected to be carried out in the near future. A program of music and readings, etc., are given each Friday afternoon to large crowds. Dinner was served by Nor- man Edwards, president, Jess Roberts and Vaughn Hansen to 30 members. They are Connie and Wesley M. Johnson and family, Og den; Mrs. Uula J. Allred, Walnut Creek, Calif.; Murial and Wendell Rawlings and family, Fairview, Idaho, and Elaine and Ralph Johnson and family of North Logan. Children not present were Lee Ann and Blaine Johnson, Missoula, Mont., and Ann and El wood Johnson, Brigham City. There is one child deceased. Special guests were Mr. Johnson's brother and his wife, Ida and W. D.
