Kimball Neeley, a former resident of Smithfield, was honored on her 90th birthday at a family gathering at the home of her granddaughter, Mr. and Mrs. LaMar K. Thurston, Logan. Mrs. Neeley was born Feb. 7, 1885, at Gunnison. She married Alma Kimball in 1902 and they made their home in Park City. They became the parents of seven children, five of whom are living. Mr. Kimball died in November 1916. Mrs. Neeley served three terms as county recorder and was the first woman ever elected to a county The family moved to Smithfield where she was employed in the office of Amal- gamated Sugar Co. Diane is John and Smithfield. View High Nev. Max is the son of Max and Mary McCombs. He attend Club Meets ractor and she and her husband conducted an office in Coalville for 26 years. They were organizers of a Little Theater group which was active for many years. Benson Boy Wins In Derby KATE W. NEELEY Couple Recites Vows The Smithfield Book of Mormon Club met at the home of Mabel Henrichsen and studied the Book of John from the Bible. Each members reads a chapter and it is discussed. Refreshments were served to ten. The next meeting will be held at the home of Lillie Cindy Wheeler and Ricky D. Anderson were VALERIE ANDRUS AND LARRY HATCH Allan and Peggy Bingham, have been serving as teachers in the Sunday Jeff Kunzler, Bon of Shron and Darrell Kunzler, won first place in the eight-year-ol- division of the Pine-woo-d Derby which was held Saturday night at the George Nelson Fieldhouse at the USU. Some 276 Cub Scouts competed in the various races. Each boy entered a car made from pinewood. Jeff received a trophy, donated by Al's Trophies, as did each of the other first place winners in the nine and Other boys from Benson who entered in the contest were Brian Kunzler, also a son of Sharon and Darrell, and Thomas Petersen, son of Lois and Roger Petersen. Arvel Reese has returned to his home following surgery in the Logan LDS Hospital. He is reported to be doinjg quite well, and it is hoped that he will have a complete and speedy recovery. Of interest to the people of Benson, was the birth of a baby boy on Valentines Day, Feb. 14, to Lynne and Larry Roundy of Cache Junction. Lynne is the daughter of Lynn and Gene Reese, and Larry is the son of Leona and Brooks Roundy. Congratulations to the proud parents and grandparents. Chad Falslev, son of Bishop and LaRae Falslev, was presented at Sacrament Meeting on Sunday, to be advanced in the Aaronic Priesthood from the office of a Deacon to that of a Teacher. were released during Sacrament meeting. They will be moving very soon to Idaho, where Allan will be employed. Sustained in their places were David Farnsworth and Toni Petersen. School, Kenneth Cardon, State President of the Utah Soil Conservation Districts, traveled to Salina, Utah to participate in a zone meeting of district officials of five counties in Southern Utah. While there he spoke on objectives and goals of the Utah Association for the coming year. A group of young people gathered at Shonna Mau-ghahome for a party to honor Sherma Bunderson prior to her departure to the Costa Rica Mission. Those present were: Douglas Ballard, Troy Ballard, Jeff Ricks, Wayne Reese, Kent Johnson, Jennifer Ballard, Pam Steele, Joannie Reese, Shauna Bunderson, Sue Allen, LuAnn Ballard, Marla Falslev, Shonna Maughan, and the honored guest, Sherma Bunderson. They had fun making and eating pfega playing games anu ing. Cub Scouts and their parents are reminded of a Pack meeting which will be held on Friday evening, Feb. 28, at the ward cultural hall. The boys will be honored at their annual Blue and Gold Banquet, which is held each February, commemorating the anniversary of the founding of scouting. Blairs Observe 50th Wedding December 31, 1974 marked the 50th Wedding Anniversary, of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Blair who commemorated the occasion by touring southern California. Their trip included the Rose Parade, Lawrence Welk New Years Eve Dinner dance show at the Hollywood Disneyland, a boat tour of Mission Bay, Mexico and a visit with a friend, Mrs. Jackie Russell. Upon returning home, the couple was honored with a dinner pari ,.iJ pi gram by their family. Also Included in the festivities was a beautiful three tier wedding cake and a lovely gift for their home. Mr. and Mrs. Blair were married December 31, 1924 ir Logan. The marriage was solemnized April 22, 1931 in the Logan LDS Temple. Jackson and Julia Leavitt. Both have spent most of their lives in Lewiston, where Bob served 40 years as a law officer and in many other capacities for the Lewiston City. Mrs. Blair has been active auxilaries of the LDS Church all of her life. They are the parents of two daughters and one son. They are Mrs. Boyd (Carin ina) Karren; Mrs. Dale (Gayle'dean) Bradford both of Bountiful, and Vaughn L. Blair, Lewiston. Newton Holds Conference by Leda Sutherland The Newton Ward annual leadership meeting in conjunction with ward conference was held on Sunday evening prior to ward conference. Bishop Glen R. Ben-so- n conducted with Stake President Blaine Rich presiding. Those who spoke were Bishop Glen R. Benson, first counselor Norvel R. Jones, Stake Primary President lone Jasper, Donna Cooley Jr. Sunday School Chorister and Relief Society teacher for mother education lesson in Relief Society, Darrell Goodsell, assistant to S. S. President, Mae Benson, teacher of the Social Relations lesson in Relief Society, Stephanie Maughan, Laurel class president and president of the Y.W.M.I.A., David Anderson, S. S. teacher. Benson presiding and Stake Relief Society officers Vera Pinson, Education Counselor; Kath- ryn Rasmussen, making Counselor; No. 1. The ceremony was performed by Chaplain J. K. Larkin. The lesson was given by Mary Mullen. The Mother Education Lesson was given bv Donna Cooley. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dale Andrus of Richmond announce the marriage of their daughter, Valerie, to Larry Hatch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alma Hatch of Smithfield. The couple will be married March 7. A dinner will be given in their honor following the ceremony by the groom's parents. A reception will be given that evening from 9 p.m. in the Rich- mond Stake Center. friends and relatives are invited. Miss Andrus is a 1974 of Sky View High School and is employed at J.C. Penney's in Logan. Hatch is a 1969 graduate of Sky View and has served four years in the U.S. Navy Sea bees. He is presently employed by Smithfield City. She became a licensed abst- ed school in Reno and served an LDS mission in England. He is employed by his father as an electrician. The couple will be honored at a reception at the Smith-fiel- d Stake Center Friday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. They will also be honored at an open house in Reno on March 1, in the Reno Stake Center. They will make their home in Reno. Diane Allred Wyatt and Max McCombs will be married Friday in the Logan LDS Temple. Columbia; Mrs. Laird (Areva) Lombard, Boise, was a charter member of the Coalville Literary Club and was recipient of a 25 years service pin. She has been active in LDS Church affairs until recent years. She married Attorney P. She Say Vows Friday She retired in 1959 after Mr. Neeley's death and presently resides at Sunshine Terrace in Logan. Her children are Vernon A. Kimball, Terrace, British office in Summit County.
