John- by Evelene Moody son and his sons Lee and Norval of Benson were chosen as North Cache Soil Conservation District's outstanding for 1973. The Johnsons and their wives Smithfield 6th LDS Ward Relief Society homemaking day was held Wednesday, with Helen Chambers, president, in charge. Invocation was offered by Betty Kirk, after which Louise Young, instructor, presented were honored guests at a banquet held recently at Glaus-er'- s Restaurant of Logan. Northeast Smithfield Some of the Johnsons' major ' projects include 7.000 feet of irrigation pipeline, two major sprinkler systems with move units, leveling of their land, and installation of drainlines. n Their water conservationand management cropping system are among the best in Cache Valley, the district reported. The Johnsons operate a dairy, where they have just completed a new shed for chopped hay. The shed also includes a lounge for the milk cows! In addition, they have built a machine shed in which they store and repair all their farm equipment. William D. Johnson is married to the former Ida Hatch, and they recently celebrated their fifty-fift- h wedding anniversary. Mr. Johnson is a long-tim- e promoter of the Boy Scouts of America, recently Congratulations to Ruth Ann and Reed Mitton on the arrival of their first child. The birth ot a girl is a happy occasion for them. She is the first grandchild for Renna and Adios Gubler, as well as an additional grandchild for LaVelma Mitton and the descendants of the Melvin Mitton family. Lynn Bates has just returned from a three-wor- k work assignment in Alaska. Lynn was a member of a team of Utah State University personnel who investigate atmospheric changes associated with Aurora Borealis. His project, called Icecap 74-was a research project in coop eration with the United States Council executive board. Benediction was offered by Faye Anderson. In 6th LDS Ward sacrament services Sunday the Sky View High School performing glee club sang. They are directed by Stratford Loosle. Four of the young women vocalists also gave brief sermons. Gloria Holt of the Primary presidency discussed the Penny Parade. Elaine Cruso and her son Jude were read into the ward as members. Released from her position as assistant librarian was Jennie West, and she is to be replaced by Zula Chase. Following Smithfield Utah LDS Stake conference, Melvin Stewart of the Sixth Ward was ordained a high priest by his father. Wesley G. Stewart of Rexburg. The researchers were on a parents of seven children. Lee Johnson is married to the former Flora Leonhardt. He is also active in the Scouting program and is a member of the district camping board of that Vitamins and Minerals for Protection. The group sang Love at Home, conducted by Leola Elwood and accompanied by Jeanette Clark. Her parents, Mary Etta and David Parkinson, and her siblings-Ma- rk, Polly, Heather went to their and Robert-- all and grandmother grandfathers house in Logan-- to celebrate the occasion with the Parkinsons.
