The infant son of P ' and Dee Smith was chris' uned Kent Rupp Smith in Lewiston 2nd LDS Ward sacrament services Birthday ' Lamont Harris was honored Sunday on his 80th birthday at his home in Smithfield, by his wife and family. Mr. Harris was born December 4, 1893, in Hyde Park, a son of William Emer and Katherine Perkes Harris. When he was 10 years old he worked tending chickens, feeding and milking cows. At the age of 14 he lived ' in Kaysville with his sister ' where he worked for Barns Canning Co., making ketchup. He later moved to Smithfield where he worked as a painter. Mr. Harris is known for his music ability. He has a good voice and recalls how he sang for Johnny Hillyards show house Defore there were motion pictures and slides were shown. He sang two songs a night, three nights a week in different towns in the valley. He was paid $1.50 a song and that was a large sum of money in those days. He married Lauretta Plow- man. Their marriage was later isolemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They moved to Sugar City where he was employed by the Utah-Idiougar Co. and to Smithfield moved back later and orked for the Amalgamate! Sugar Company for 44 years until his retirement. Some time after the death of Lauretta, Lamont married Bur-detThorpe Puffer in the Logan LDS Temple. Mr. Harris was president of the ward choir for many years, in the presidency of the High Priests Quorum, a counselor in the presidency of the Sunday School and president of the Elders Quorum. His children are Mrs. Mauh; ta . Sunday.
