William Pitcher, the new financial clerk, has served in the Sunday School superintendency in Cornish and Benson, was MIA secretary and has been active in scouting. He is married to the former Joyce Fullmer of Benson. They are the parents of six children Meyer is a member of the Per forming Girls Glee and of the Vistauns at Sky View. She, also, is an outdoor girl and par-- v ticularty enjoys softball. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Meyer. Second attendant Beckie Nielson enjoys working with children particularly those she teaches in a Primary class. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Nielson, Beckie has served on the Bishops Youth Council in the Smithfield Third Ward and is of the Manti youth conference committee. Ricks has served under two bishoprics for a total of 17 years. He has also served as a counselor in the MIA, Seventies president, as a teacher and in the superintendency of the Sunday School and as a home teacher. He was assistant ward clerk at the time of his call. He and his wife, the former Geo Johnson of Nibley, are the parents of six children and grandparents to 20. Ricta is a farmer and also is employed in the maintenance department at Utah State. Arvel Reese, assistant clerk, has been a counselor in a Sixteen-year-ol- d Teuscher, Loye third attendant, plays the clarinet in the Sky View marching band, has served on the Bishops Youth Council in the Smithfield Second Ward and also enjoys outdoor sports. Rich, the conference session, spoke powerfully on the life of Christ and what His influence should be in the lives of church members. Other speakers at the session included Mrs. Taylor, who recalled her visit to the Holy Land; Marilyn Gutke, who spoke on temple marriage; and Rosemary Johnson, who discussed home evening. who conducted is optimistic. Practice is now in full swing, most of his college players will be home in time for Saturday's opener and most key positions will be filled by veteran players giving the team good depth, according to Hansen. A tentative line-u- p reveals: Roger Howell, currently playing for Weber State, will return to his position as catcher. He will be backed by Seth Hyden. Last year's leading home run hitter, Layne Thompson, also playing for Weber State, will be at first base. veteran of several seasons after a years absence from the team is Jeff Taylor, who could play first base or possibly in the outfield. Last year's regulars A who will be returning Tim Gibbons and Tony Hall will probably be at second base though both are also good outfielders. Brent Toolson, who played second base a few seasons ago, and Richard Wiscombe, a newcomer, will also be working out at that spot. Returning at shortstop will be Dave Caudill, a at Ricks College last year and now a redshirt at Brigham Young Univprsity. As in the past several years, Roger Hanson will again be at third base. Jan Hall, the long-ba- ll hitter, and John Miller, a newcomer, will be working for outfield spots. Stuart Howell, last year's leading hitter, will be playing centerfield while Hansen has lined up Dean Miller, the teams top left hander, and Steve Rose, a relief specialist, for the pitching staff. Both are at Weber State this year. in Brent Jones and Greg Nyman, regulars last year, could be lost early in the season to church missions so Hansen is seeking another Ditcher. Dana Miller, former Sky View pitcher and veteran Dave Thatcher are also being counted on for help on the mound. Some help from the high school team is expected to round out the 1973 squad. Looking forward to another winning season, Hansen feels his biggest task will be deciding the best nine to put on the field. Plans for a four game road trip are included in the team's schedule. Hansen is also seeking a game with the professional Ogden Dodgers. The Blue Sox, members of the Beehive State and Northern Utah leagues, will open league play about June 1st. according to Hansen. Last year's team won the Utah State championship, the Northern League title and took third place in the Beehive League. |
