Of the seven completed bridges tested in a special assembly held last week, the one was constructed by Reed Hoggan. a senior, and registered 391 pounds before collapsing under the machine. A third place bridge was close behind at 167 pounds, built by Stuart Parkinson and Clair Palmer. Other bridges collapsed at 109, 98. 88, and 62 pounds. Mr. Nielson said that one college student built a bridge from this same kit that withstood 1089 pounds befofe collapsing, but had built 14 bridges of lesser strength before perfecting that herculean masterpiece. An engineering banquet is to be held March 4 at USU, and top winners of all 11 participating schools will be invited, and will be awarded cash prizes. Reed Hoggan will receive $15, Anna Marie Nichols and Glenda Griffeth will split $10, and Stuart Parkinson and Clair Palmer will divide $5 for third place.
