You don't feel the height." er According to Chuck, a person can be trained to make his first jump with only an ho;tr and half of training. There are 15 active members in the USU club, of which 15 are licensed members. One of the leaders of the group is Jody Pond, a USU student from Lewiston. To be licensed, a person has to jump at least 75 times in free fall from the plane. Beginners, for the first jump or two, have their rip cords attached to the plane so that it is automatically pulled as they jump. After about the third jump, they have to fall free for about one second or more and then pull the cord. Chuck and Jody fell for 30 seconds at an altitude of 7000 feet during their practice at the airport. It is during the longer falls that the sky divers can perform various antics. Trained sky divers, like Chuck and Jody, can jump from a plane at 7000 feet and land on a 30 foot circle Last week, on the ground. they performed by jumping into the USU stadium at halftime. per Saturday night in com- Refreshments were served. memoration of their husband and fatter, the late Wallace Cut-O- il Chatterton's birthday. A passenger, Brad Mockli, 16, suffered a cut chin. Also a passenger in the car was Vern Smith, 16. Kade told investigating officers that he was distracted by some activity in the car and ran off the road. He was cited for failure to show due regard. Several juveniles were arrested for setting fires in Preston, one of them at the junction of State Street and Highway 34 to Lewiston. A group of girls were also picked up for throwing tomatoes at cars, one of them being the car of a deputized officer. There were also reports of eggs being thrown at cars.
