The action was taken during the regular meeting of the council. Police Chief Gary Nelson re ported in a previous council meeting that the equipment now in use was about worn out. In other action the coun cil authorized the purchase of a new typewriter for the city office. The council discussed water service for the hSmes of Beckstead lane South of Preston. The council offered to allow the residents to hook up to the city water line, but that they install water meters. A meeting of tne county commissioners and the city council members was to be held Tuesday night to discuss the fire protection program in the county. Melvin Clayton appeared before the council to discuss his water charges and the council agreed to reduce his rate. Also appearing oeiore the council was Orion Jensen who said that a previous water bill against him was not due because he had requested the water be shut off while he was away.
