Recent visitors in the Preston area were S.M. Sgt. Major and Mrs. Homer L. Nielson and daughter, Christie Ane. They are now being relocated at Mountain Home A.F.B. after three years being spent in Brussels, Belgium, where S.M. Sgt. Major Nielson served with the E.O.A.R. He also spent some time as branch president of the LDS Church at Brussels. His mother is Mrs. Lorenzo (Kate) Hansen, 147 West Oneida, and Mrs. Nielson' s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Hansen, 34 North 2nd East. On March 16, the Wilford Hansen family held a reunion in honor of the Nielson's homecoming and also the folks' wedding anniversary at the American Legion hall. Forty-tw- o family members were present. They were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Sparrow and family, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hansen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Randell Dursteler and Kim, Mr. and Mrs. Wade Dursteler and son. Out of town visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Mecham and Jeanie of Idaho Falls, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Hansen and family of Three Forks, Mont., Mr. and Mrs. Delwin Mecham and son of Logan, and Mr. and Mrs. Craig Wood of Smithfield. A grandson, Michiel Hoffman, son of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Hansen, at present serving on a mission in Arizona, and a granddaughter, Tora Mae Gattcn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Mecham, husband and two children of Bartlesville, Okla., were the only ones of the family not present. A turkey and ham dinner with its trimmings was served at 1 p.m. and the afternoon was spent in sociability, program and the Nielsons showing slides of various countries they visited while overseas. The Nielsons were speakers at the First ward vouth dis cussion erouo Sunday. March1 10, and in sacrament meet-- j ing March 17 at Mink Creek. The Nielson family had a get together in honor of S.M. Sgt. Major Nielson and family at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Hansen on Saturday, March 9. Visitors at this home were Mrs. Donna Keller, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Mr. and Mrs. Wade Dursteler and son Randy and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Smout and children, Preston. Out of town visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Higley, Elko, Nev.; Mr. and Mrs. Orval Austin, Downey; Mrs. Nedra Potter and Mrs. Therma Crockett of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Brent Conlin and daughter, Malad; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Keller and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Burton and children of Grace. The Preston FFA Crop judging team took top honors recently in the District Crops and Seeds contest last week. Three members of the Preston group at the meet took the top individual honors. The team, composed of Terry Harris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thane Harris; Dennis Webster, son of Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Webster, and Scott Christensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Christensen, earned 286.8 points. Other schools in the competition were Marsh Valley, second, with 255.3 points; Malad, third, with 179.3 points; Grace was fourth and Bear Lake fifth. Terry was high individual with a score of 96.3. Ken Ged des was second with 96.5, and Dennis was third with 95.6. Larsen will be honored at an open house on her 80th birthday Sunday by her children. The open house will be held at her home at 259 East Oneida between the hours of 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Mrs. Larsen was born and reared in Mink Creek. She married Junius C. Larsen Dec. 23, 1908, in the Logan LDS temple. He died in March 1964. Mrs. Larsen is the mother of 12 children, eight of whom are still living. They include Virgil and Farrel of Preston; Roma, Maxine, Shirley and Thane of Ogden; Donna of Illinois, and Claudia of Seattle. Mrs. Larsen has lived in her present home for the past 26 years.
