New brochures explaining the law are now available at insurance agencies in the state and at county and state governmental agencies and motor vehicle offices In addition, a summary of the new law will be printed on the back of some 800,000 auto registration forms due to be mailed to Utah drivers. Legislators believe the new law will eventually save policyholders money on their plans, and stabilize premiums since insurance companies will be relieved of investigating and contesting many minr claims. Getting No Fault auto insurance will be easy for those motorists in Utah who already have liability insurance. The nearly 200 insurance firms in the state are issuing the new insurance automatically, with no trouble or fuss to the insured. The chairman of the No Fault Information committee said that motorists who have complied with the laws in the past and have the required insurance so as to be financially responsible in case of an accident will get the new No Fault Insurance. Motorists who already have insurance need not trouble themselves at all. They should receive their No Fault cards in the mail by the first of the year. They will need the card in order to get their 1974 license plates and they will have to carry the card in their car in case they are stopped by a policeman, but they dont have to bother about calling their insurance companies about getting cards or the new insurance since the companies are taking care of all that for them. The cards must show the insurance companys name, the policy number, the effective date of coverage, the name of the insured and description of the vehicle. The No Fault Insurance Law was passed by the regular session of the Utah State Legislature in January of this year and states that as of January 1, 1974 everyone in Utah who owns a car must have No Fault Auto Insurance. If you own and register a bus, auto or truck in Utah you will hvae to purchase the new insurance protection. The law applies to all vehicles with the exception of motorcycles and vehicles belonging to the federal government. A non resident vehicle owner must obtain the necessary compulsory coverage if the vehicle is present in the state for 90 days during the previous 365 days.colThis means out of state who are in Utah lege students 1 and remain in Utah January after April 1 must buy the insurance. The law was designed to elim By the Automotive Information Council Balancing your cars wheels requires a relatively small investment that can provide big dividends in terms of better control, extended life for tires and front end components,, smoother riding. There are two types of conditions, static and dynamic and both should be checked. Static imbalance means that a heavy spot exists on the circumference of the wheel and tire assembly. By attaching lead weights to the wheel rim opposite the heavy spot, this condition can be corrected. If not corrected the effect of the heavy spot is magnified as the speed of the car increases, causing the wheel and tire to hop or bounce up and down. This condition is referred to as wheel tramp and can occur in the front and rear wheels, causing vibrations in the entire car. Dynamic imbalance indicates a heavy spot toward the inner or outer edge of the tire or wheel which causes the wheel assembly to shake from side to side or to shimmy at certain sneeds. This condition is transmitted in the steering column to the steering wheel where you can feel the .vibration. It is corrected by putting lead weights on the inside or outside of the wheel opposite the heavy spot. Wheels should be balanced every time your tires are rotated or balanced or when brake drums are discs are replaced or resurfaced. In the latter care the replacement brake drum or disc brake rotor is assembled with the tire and wheel and all three should be balanced as a unit, on or off the car. Original equipment drums and rotors are balanced at the factory, so it is normally not necessary to have them balanced with the tire and wheel when the wheels are balanced off the car. While wheel balance is suspect whenever you feel vibration, other items that would cause or contribute to the problem are poorly adjusted or worn out-ofbalan- ce Training School Plans Christmas Pageant More than 400 students at the Utah State Training School at American Fork will participate in the annual Christmas Pageant Dec. 18, 19 and 20 at 1:30 and 7 p.m. each day. Most of the participants in the pageant this year will be children from thee years old up with only a few adults taking part. The entire pageant lasts about an hour and is in two parts.
