Anniversary On Monday May 14th, the more than 17,000 members of the United States Armys Womens the 31st Army ,Corp celebrated ' anniversary. Army Chief of Staff, General Creighton W. Abrams, congratulated all member of the Corps in a recent letter to all Army commands. He said, Throughout the brief but. distinguished history of the Womens Army Corps, its members have served our nation with pride, courage, dedication and profesisonal competence. The Armys high esteem for the outstanding quality of this past service is reflected in its current efforts to expand the size of the Corps and to use more fully the skills of its women officer and enlisted members, thus providing them with increased career opportunities. Women may enlist for any of the more than 300 job skills in todays Volunteer Army. Young women are eligible to enlist in . Governor Ramptdn by Jerry Mooney, a member of the State Aeronautics Board. Mr. Mooney cited the need for another airport in Salt Lake County since the Alta and. Draper airports will be closed soon. It would require 300 of the prisons 1003 acres of land for the any skill they can qualify for with the exception of combat arms skills. To be eligible to enlist in the Womens Army Corp, a young woman must be between ages of 18 and 35, have a high school diploma or the equivalent, must be in good health and either be a citizen of the United States or have applied for citizenship. Young women who apply for a direct commission as a second or first lieutenant must be between the ages of 21 and 33 and have a degree from an accredited college or university. A special program is available for college juniors. Young women who qualify for the Student Officer program in their senior year of college may receive $400 per month. Todays Womens Army Corps is the ideal job for the young woman who enjoys to travel. You could be stationed near a large cosmopolitan city, or in a big western state. You might be lucky enough to be in ski country. You have the option to serve in the U.S. or may apply for an assignment to Europe or even the Far East. With 30 days paid vacation each year, you can travel on your own to places you have dreamed of. Theres a world of exciting and worthwhile jobs to be done Buy in the Womens Army Corps. Administration, communications or dental and medical technologies are just a few of the fields qualified young women can choose from. Of particular interest to todays young women is the fact that the army is one of the few fields where women have received the same pay, status and opportunity for promotion as men. Promotions can be frequent with correspondent raises in pay. As a member of the Womens Army Corps a young woman has an opportunity to continue her education off duty. Educational facilities are available at most military installations and in colleges nearby and the Army pays 75 per cent of the cost. This is in addition to GI Bill entitlements. The fashion conscious woman in the Army will have two ward robes. One will be personal for dates, sportswear and travel. The other is professional with smartly tailored uniforms that are distinctive symbols of the worthwhile job you are doing. For the winter months, members of the Womens Army Corps wear a gray green wool uniform. The jacket is single breasted, gently fitted, the skirt straight and paneled for a smooth hang. The blouse is short sleeved, made of polyester and cotton with a black tab tie. To complete your outfit youll have a matching hat and black leather accessories. PageFive Utah Publisher Seeks World War Accounts Savings Bond Sales Continue to Rise If you were living in Europe during World War II, a Utah publisher is interested in learning of your experiences. Horizon Publishers of Bountiful is seeking first person accounts of individuals who endured the ordeals of the war as civilians or battle participants. Both the experiences of those whose countries were occupied by the Nazis and those who felt the effects of the Allied bombings and advance across Europe are sought. The accounts chosen will be compiled into a full length book. Objectives of the volume will be to depict through first person reports the suffering and inhumanity of war and to show the effects of oppression and poverty. The results of famine and what was done to obtain and preserve food supplies would be a vauable part of the report. The accounts should also portray mans indominable spirit and desire for survival. Faith promoting experiences which show the results of religious beliefs and acts in that period of trial are particularly sought. Manuscripts should be typewritten, double spaced and up to 30 pages in length. Tentative deadline is June 20. Payment will be made for those accepted for publication. Savings Bond , sales for 1973 are moving briskly, according to the Salt Lake County Chairman, Henry Riggert of Salt Lake City who reported that county bond sales during February amounted to $854,366. Meanwhile, statewide sales of E and II savings bonds came to $2,394,397, bringing the total to $4,922,471 or 16 of the 1973 quota, it was cent per announced by .Utah State volunteer Bonds Chairman Wendell E. Gile of Salt Lake City. Nationally sales., of Savings Bonds totaled $592 million or $31 million more than in January and 10.3 per cent higher than February 1972. E Bond sales alone were $558 million, setting a 28 year record for the month and the highest monthly total since January 1946. H Bond sales reached $34 'million, making it the best for the month in eight years. County Bond buyers and residents were urged by the chairman that within income tax refunds, some people take advantage of buying Bonds with tax refunds, now going to some 58 million people this year rthe largest refund in history.
