And thats what Car Craft Magazines popular series for the past several months has been about. The December issue covers street scene happenings in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Tucson, and El Paso. Yes, Virginia, even Las Vegas has a street scene. But the kids of Las Vegas are representative of other cities in Car Crafts series, now finding new interests in other things. Some arc growing up to be dealers. Phoenix is the home of some of the prettiest street rods youve ever laid eyes on. On hot summer nights, the kids are out cruising and having a wonderful time. Many think of El Paso as just a suburb of Juarez. Actually, its a separate entity and enjoys a small but avid street scene. One thing about El Paso: there is a definite resurgence of nifty street roadsters. Tucson has the University of Arizona, which accounts for the large number of young people frequenting its many hangouts. Parking lots make ideal meeting places where various cliques gather. Street racing is dying out here. What can individual citizens do to encourage the establishment of low or moderate income housing? How can the Department of Community Affairs Housing Development Division help alleviate the critical shortage of housing for low or moderate income families? How is a non profit Housing Development Corporation established? These are the type of questions to be dealt with in a three day seminar on low and moderate income housing on Nov. 7 at tiie Northwest Multi Purpose Center, 1300 West 2nd North in Salt Lake City. Sponsored by the State Department of Community Affairs, Housing Development Division, the Seminar is aimed at informing city and county officials, bankers, developers, and Community Action Agencies on 15-1- the problems related to housing in the state and methods of solution to those problems, stated James T. Stevens, State Housing Diector. Keynote speaker will be William G. Bruhn, executive director, Department of Community Affairs. David Engel, director of Housing for the Office of Economic Opportunity in Washington, D.C., will be speaking on the Office of Economic Opportunity and State Institutions. The Seminar will be by Department of Housing ad Urban Development, the Federal Housing Administration, the Farmers Home Administration, and the Office of Economic Opportunity.
