Another 199 acres adjacent to Mexican Hat were proposed for classification for industrial and commercial development and community expansion. These proposals were made after careful consideration of all available data including comments received at public hearings. However, the 1964 Classification and Multiple Use Act requires public notice of a disposal action at least 60 days prior to the classification for any tract in excess of 2,560 acres. A notice published June 4 did not propose this disposal classification. Since the notice for classification for sale as published September 24 exceeded 2,560 acres it did not comply with requirements of the law and must be rescinded, Mr. Nielson explained. Elimination of the disposal provisions from the September classification proposal will not preclude reclassification of areas at some future date. backpackers map-brochu- re 40-mi- le way 89 in Utah and ending at and the trip should be undertakLees Ferry on the Colorado Riv- en only by experienced backer in Arizona.
