All it takes to continue the fight against tuberculosis and other respiratory diseases is the wonderfully simple act of answering your Christmas Seal letter with a contribution, said the new chairman. Christmas Seal funds, now in their 50th year of service, have pioneered the development of many health programs in Utah, Mrs. Rampton said. Just to name a few, the Christmas Seal Association in the twenties Page Three FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 1965 launched the early Health Crusade, an imaginative educational program to inculcate health knowledge and habits in school children. Christmas Seals established and payed for public health nurse or school nurse service in many counties and communities of Utah, Mrs. Rampton explained. For nearly a decade in the thirties, the Association operated a summer health camp for of children underprivileged families which had tuberculosis. The regulations, which apply to 460 million acres administered by the Bureau of Land Management in the West and Alaska, implement the Classification and Multiple Use Act of 1964 and the Public Land Sale Act of 1964. The 1964 landmark laws provide for interim management of public lands classified for retention or disposal over the next four years pending the report and recommendations of the Public Land Law Review Commission, also established by the 88th Congress. The three Acts comprise a historic package in land management. Approval by Secretary Udall marks the end result of proposed rule making announced in March and public hearings held in Washington, D.C., and in several Western States. The final version incorporates many revisions resulting from suggestions received from the public. We appreciate greatly the interest shown by citizens and organizations in the development of these regulations, the Secretary stated. As a result of citizen participation the regulations will more nearly fit the needs of the people and will be more completely understood as they are carried into effect. The new regulations will be published in full in the Federal Register, and will be reprinted in circular form for distribution that job. Successions of these reefs, built mainly of sponges, like one upon another in much the same manner that civilizations built by man may be found upon former ones. The development and replacement of communities in some of the Utah sponge reefs will be discussed in one of four sessions of the Paleontological Society, held in conjunction with the 1965 annual meeting of the Geological Society of America in Kansas City, Missouri, on November 4, and 6. Another discussion at one of the sessions will concern ancient communities of a group of animal fossils from Indiana, which was covered by the ocean at the time these fossils lived. An abundance of animals of different types lived in the community, and later were buried by sediment. Presently geologists and paleontologists are studying the record of ancient life left by this community. In all, 36 papers on some part of paleontology will be presented at the meeting of the Paleontological Society in Kansas City. 5 For living on a grand scale!
