Committees are now working to make this one of the best 17-18-- 19, ever. President Dan Crandall is lining up a good corps of workers, who will try to have programs that are entertaining and educational. The H workers and members and the F.F.A. are planning to exhibit their best. 4-- The annual Queen Contests are being planned to be fascinating events. NaVee Vernon and her Rodeo Queen Committee have held their contest and will be coming up with some more very special activities. Aloma Richins and her committee are working real hard to arrange a very good "Miss Summit County Fair Pageant. Watch for these interesting things. A Finally Brought Under Control A huge loaded with furniture stopped at the Fay Bates ranchSunday evening about 10 p.m. frantically trying to locate a water hose since the truck was on fire. The Summit County Rodeo Queen Contest was held last Saturday night, June 10 at the Oakley Arena arid MariaSweet-e- n of Mt. Meadow Ranch, Park City was selected as our Queen. Excitement was at its peak as eleven girls competed for the title. Those who entered were Wendy Rees, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Rees, Coalville; Elynn Brushnahan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Brusnahan, Oakley; Marla Boyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Boyer, Henefer; Kay-le- en Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Jones, Upton; Patty Kirkham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Kirkham, Francis; Lu Jean Potter and Ruth Potter, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Lew Potter, Upton; Kathy Richins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Richins, Henefer; Maria Sweeten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Sweeten, Mt. Meadow Ranch, Park City; Charlotte Bates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fay Bates, Wanship and Janet Clark, daughter of Mrs. Alta Wharran, Oakley. Two additional lovely riders furnished some graceful and exciting rides. They were Rae Delle Rider, daughter of Mr. and Vernon of Hoytsville and Mike Roath, Coalville had the audience holding their sides with laughter as they put on a show of their own as Rae Delle and Calamity.) Music for the evening was presented by Sherree Robinson and Robin DeWeese.They sang a song that was "special for .the girls in the contest. Howard Jones operated the pub- lic address system. Judges from Evanston, Wyoming were Mr. and Mrs. StanSwager; Mr. and Mrs. Dave Turner; and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Earl. The girls were interviewed by the three women judges from Evanston. They are dedicated to helping and encouraging the girls to participate and in view of all their efforts Im sure the committee was disappointed at the meager crowd that showed up to support the Rodeo Queen contest. A very special thanks goes to the Coalville B.P.W. Club who will sponsor Charlotte Bates, first attendant who will represent Summit County at the Utah State Contest in Ogden.
