Show Bees WAXING by Mary Bee , friends of Frank Jay Lacey paid their final respects Saturday at funeral services where tears were shed The many openly - For the young man whose life was ended before it barely began . . . For the family who have had so much of sorrow to bear . . . For the many here who opened their homes and hearts to Frank until he had become as one of their own . . . For . : the young schoolmates and frlends-w- ho live their lives today with the specter of war always hoverhave not yet ing over them-a- nd learned to face its harsh reality. ed I looked beyond the casket and the banks of flowers for a moment into the the Frank Lacey I past -tknew. I saw a young man who found the time and the patience one Sunday afternoon, to show our ld son how to hold and shoot a bow and arrow . . . flag-drap- o seven-year-o- saw a sportsman, who hunted for the pleasure of it, and left a nice deer hanging on our back porch- -" Because I have no use for it." I saw a tall, serious, sometimes lonely young man, who would talk for hours without belittling or criticizing any one. As the Sergeant of the Honor Guard gave his final salute- -a tribute to the one who had paid the supreme sacrifice, I was proud Frank had chosen us as friends. 1 was proud my children had known- -lf only for a short time-t- his young man who lived his life like a true sportsman, honestly and fairly. He was not of war, for all young people of today carry this cold fear with them. But there was no thought of avoiding it, he answered with courage and went off to a strange country to fight a war we do not understand for a people we do I : not know. While we cannot comprehend why our finest young men must fight and die, we can feel a surge of pride that there are young people like Frank who accept lifes responsibilities with no thought of protest or hippiedom. Iam proud to have known him.-M- ary SMALL PIANO, Like new. Take over small contract payments 36-Ph. 336-222- 9. OR HORSE pasture wintered.
