Show I Much Need for Revision Is Seen in Present Kindergarten Method BY JANIEL BROWN Last week, a State Kin derear ten Conference waa held at Utah State Univeriity. Chosen to present the South Summit School District waa Un, Keith (Hens) Bailey. Hie conference had several purposes, one of which waa to revise She guidebook, which up till now has only been a general outline tor teachers to follow. This fall will see several of the large districts in the city starting a full year of kindergarten and a much snore detailed procedure Is needed very badly. Mrsjteiley said that the com. mlttee consisted of a few principals, but mostly other klndergar-- ten teachers like herself. They went through this notebook page By page a13 recommended changes for any area they didn't agree With, One r.trong recommendation the 'Committee made was to have suffer qualifications 'for' klndergar. ten teirhera. All a person has to do now, is pasa the Kindergarten 'Efficiency Test, which, according to the majority of the committee, is vastly inadequate. They would like to dispense with it entirely. Another recommendation was that there be a smaller dlstribU; tfam unit per kindergarten. Now' .it Is only one unit per 80 students, whereas each grade from there and up receives one unit per 27 students. ((hie unit a set amount of money with which to buy supplies for the given number of . students.) Mrs Bailey also said that the .wmwitti. recommended that classes be made smaller in order to more fully reach each child. One of the guest speakers, a Dr. will be the scene i Park City fids week end of the annual summer convention of the Utah State Press Association, with more than 100 persons expected a enjoy the new entertainment Khcllitles of the Summit County resort Summit County Bee Goes Begging It Is reputed that AUGUST THURSDAY, Jokin Some of the local teen set had 'a wild night last week.
