Clerk-Audito- Power Beyond Reason We protest the severity of these ordinance controls and their attendant penalties. We wonder why men from this county on both the Planning Commission Board and the County Commission would go so far in an attempt to adopt these restrictive and the harsh ordinances. We see the potential of one commissioner becoming the most powerful man in County Government through the enforcement of these proposed ordinances by an appointed Zoning Administrator. This Zoning Administrator literally becomes the Judge, Jury and Executioner. Reference made is to. th Zon- ing Ordinance as follows: of the Zoning Ordinance says' that the Zoning administrator determines if a Section 1 8 property owner gets a building permit; owner gets a says he determines if a property 1 9 says that proppermit of occupancy; Section detailed site plan with the erty owners must file a says he is Zoning Administrator; Section Section says this man is also the Section 1- This 4th of July so many were marching to so many different drummers. Where the Declaration of Independence speaks of one and The Constitution of We, the people, for people America is the American people, a leading columnist wrote of The Nation. of Unwanted Bureaucracy points of the ordinances which (as the article stated) They plan to adopt in August." We wonder why the Commissioners are so set on the fast and immediate adoption of such strong controls which, according to Commissioner John Holmgren II, were developed entirely by local men making up the Local Planning Commission with only technical assistance from a professional planner. This technical assistance, we are told, has cost the taxpayer over $62,000 to date and we understand there are possibly further costs to come. After investigation and research, we have come to the conclusion that Commissioner John Holmgrens statement about local people drawing up the ordinances is not true. We are still of the opinion and we more firmly believe that the proposed Box Elder County MASTER PLAN was drawn up by far-ou- t, high pressure, liberal, land little who have or no conception or care planners how the rural residents of Box Elder County feel about their individual freedoms and the protection of the value of their land. Why is it that these land planners always seem to be bent on putting controls and restrictions on other people's lands and property and restricting others from enjoying their personal freedoms? The present Planning Commission, which we have been told, was hand picked by Commissioner John Holmgren II, consists of Paul Holmgren, Chairman from Bear River City, Richard Petersen of Fielding, Boyd Nelson of South Willard, Delbert Firth of Bothwell, Jerry Wilde of Harper Ward, Harold Sandall of Park Valley, and John Holmgren, County Commissioner of Bear OUT OF STEP WITH AMERICANISM . We see a new and expanding bureaucracy being created to help police these oppressive ordinances. How much money in additional taxes will it take to staff the entire office and all the employees that will be necessary to enforce rules and restrictions that the rural property owners do not need nor want at this time? How much will we as taxpayers have to pay for increased control over our God-give- n and constitutional right to use our own property as we deem appropriate and in the best interests of our families and our community? A senators 4th of July theme praised the strength of our system of government, where the limitations and dispersions of government is the unique thesis of Americanism. He spoke of Congress and the executive branch emerging out of Watergate as stronger institutions with their rights and responsibilities more clearly defined, as if he hadnt even read The Constitution and realized how far beyond their clearly defined limitations they had already gone. And finally he called himself one of the custodians of democracy, Americanism how overlooking carefully sought to embrace a republican form of government io avoid the excesses and irresponsibilities of democracies. Passage of these ordinances gives too much power to a few hand picked men. Have you noticed when too much power is placed in the hands of a few well organized people, conditions and freedoms do not get better, they generally become worse and worse. others marching to different drummers were marching for peace, for controls, for entangling alliances, for agreements with the untrustworthy; while so few marched for Liberty, for Independence, for a reliance upon the protection of a Divine Providence, and all those things the Spirit of 76 was all about. Elsewhere, Unreasonable Discrimination Why do members of the Planning Commission and the three County Commissioners under We can easily blame government and the people in it for the mobile home ordinance want to take away the right of our elderly citizens, our young married people, and our medium income working people to live in a mobile home that they can afford in these days of high prices and rampant inflation. Why would elected officials try to literally deny them a place to live except in crowded expensive mobile home parks. Many people view mobile home parks when run by a disagreeable or unscrupulous manager as a form of concentration camp. Many parks do not allow children or pets. If these ordinances are adopted, it appears there will be no other place they can live in a mobile home. Farmers and ranchers are adversely and materially affected by the Mobile Home ordinance. There are many areas in the Subdivision and Zoning Ordinances that are equally or more detrimental. not being American; but its useless since its mostly as they intended it to be. It is difficult and even painful to blame ourselves, but it is we are not being American in conviction, purpose and patriotism; as it is we who have allowed so many of the principles of Americanism to be compromised. Until we restore Americanism in Americans, were not going to have an American government nor an American nation. Instead well have columnists, senators, and other national leaders marching to other drummers and out of step with Americanism. Unreasonable Power Plain Flat Bars SILVER Why Pay More?
