If such an unconstitutional measure could pass with the approval of the majority of over 400 House members and 100 Senate members and be signed into law by a president who said himself that in his opinion the bill was unconstitutional, why should we be surprised that nine old men should declare it as being constitutional when they have had trouble standing by the Constitution these past 30 years? If the Mormon people believe that the constitution is divinely inspired, then they should certainly wonder about the Deseret News. One or the other is not do-goodi- one-worlde- experience. nations are the people prevented from leaving. David Clayton-Thoma- s, a Canadian member of a rock group called Blood, Sweat, and Tears, said at a State Department reception: I didnt just wear this by accident, pointing to a large peace symbol on his purple sweatshirt. I wore it because I believe in it. The group doesnt stand for the things Mr. Nixon is doing. Our motive isnt to show off this administration at all . . . Ive traveled the country . . . I've seen hatred and racism, rnd I'll tell that no matter where I go. Three guesses as to what our State Department did after Mr. Clayton-Thompromised to denounce the United States world wide: They lifted his visa and informed him he would no longer be welcome here? Or maybe rebutted his statements or slapped his wrists? No. Our State Department, same old traitors as always, gave Clayton-Thomand his rock group $40,000 to tour three Communist countries. They will act as representatives of our State Department. You should not be too surprised that the rock group is against the United States. So is our State Department. But dont get upset. Only 12 of the State Department security risks" named by Senator Joseph McCarthy are still there! On January 4, 1971 an editorial appeared in the above paper apparently applauding the action taken on the 18 year old vote and slanted to push for the vote in Utah. Nothing is more clear in our national Constitution than the requirements for voting. It took a constitutional amendment to per-mour mothers to vote, this meant that 34 of the State Legislatures and 23 of Congress had to ratify the measure before it became law. Maybe the politicians of today think this method is too much trouble or just maybe somebody thinks they know better what is best for us than we do. It is getting so that the only thing worth reading on the editorial jiage of the Deseret News is the little box at the top. as as it youth-administrati- on A Lithuanian sailor jumped a Soviet fishing ship off the Massachusetts coast recently. He applied for asylum in the land of the free and the home of the brave. He just didn't know any better, poor thing. He was returned to the Soviets. If he hasn't been shot, hes probably in a Siberian slave labor camp. The State Department said the incident was unfortunate. It is not yet clear what the amount of the damage is. Efforts of Russian Jews to leave Russia have caused worldwide repercussions. Why? Virtually nobody can. leave Russia. Why should Jews have special privilege? The main reason the Bolshoi opera tour to the free world was cancelled was because the Russians feared further defections. Lets begin with a basic truth about pollution: There is really nothing in the earth or atmosphere these days that lias not been in and around this planet, in one form or another, for thousands of years. So why all the scare talk? There is a difference between healthy fear and the unwholesome kind. We need healthy fears to keep us from carelessly ignoring what is happening in our world to the resources we have. We need to overcome the unwholesome kind with faith and understanding so we will not add to the danger instead of curing it. Excessive fears on the part of some are increasing tensions in the minds of others in our coun-trto the point where we are risking the pollution of our environment with human carrion. If this should come about, we would not only add to the ollu-liobut wc would be weighed down with sorrow as well. Well, now, old fuddy-duddAre you endangering society by backing the laws? Of course not if you know the real truth. And Mr. Raymond P. Gauer, National Director of Citizens for Decent Literature, can supply that truth. Gauer didn't meekly accept the facts about Denmark. He went to Copenhagen and found out the sordid truth. After his trip, he testified his findings over the Manion Forum radio program. Samples of his radio address: I was privileged while there to interview the Chief of Police of Copenhagen, Clostcr Christiansen. He pointed out statistical decrease in sex crimes is a misleading that this 3 figure. The only reason there has been a statistical decrease is that what used to be a crime is now cither legal or else it - is ignored. For instance, the sale of pornography had been a sex crime. Now it's legal so there are no longer any of these crimes being committed. Voyeurism laws thats peeping Toms there is no longer any such thing as a peeping Tom in Denmark. Statutory rape, which involves an adult male with a minor female, is no longer a crime as long as she is a willing partner. Chief Chiistiansen was quick to point out that the violent sex crimes, forcible rape and assault, have not decreased. Today, Denmark leads the world in the incidence of venereal disease. There was an article not long ago about someone interviewing young girls of 12 and 13 years old in a health center there, and asking who their contacts were so they could trace this disease and, hopefully, help wipe it out. These little 12 and 13 year old girls would reel off lists of names as though reading from a telephone book. There was also an article written about the fact, in Denmark, couples are engaging in sexual intercourse on the beaches in full view of everyone there, so that absolute moral degradation has hit that country.
