Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Alice Peart and Mrs. Farren. The dinner was given at the home of Mrs. Al-lie- ne - Peart. An especially interesting cake made in the form of a bowling alley, complete with the pins, formed the centerpiece for the attractive table. Those attending were those named and Mrs. Thelda East-woo- d, Mrs. Jean Giles, Mrs. Elaine Kirk and Mrs. Irma . Gourley. i Lovells host . farewell party Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Lovell hosted a farewell party last Sunday, honoring their son, Steve, who will leave Saturday, Sept. 27 where he will fulfill an LDS mission to the Gulf States. He will report Oct. 2 at Shreveport, Louisiana, headquarters for the mission field in that area. Attending were family members, sisters, Veda, Beth and Karen, Mr. and Mrs. George Ipson and three girls, Miss Mary Lou Ipson, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Lovell and two daughters of Salt Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Max Lovell, Dee Lovell, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Carpenter and three children of Rivertoon; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lovell and family, Oak City; Mr. and Mrs. Deon Gillen, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop, Oasis; Mr. and Mrs. Creed Lovell and. children, Salt Lake, and Eureka friends, I Cohimbia-Rebeka- f ... Mr. and Mrs. Julian Sanderson are the proud parents of a baby boy born September 16 in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. The welcome little boy weighed 8 pounds, and will be named Boyce Jay. He sishas a little ter, Julina, who is thrilled over the addition to the family circle. Mother is the former Mary. Jean Mellor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mellor of Lehi. Other grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Sanderson of Eureka, and great grandmother is Mrs. William Wlrthlin, also of Eureka. four-year-o- irevllied . i Mrs. Phyllis Kitt of Long Beach, California, who has been visiting here at the home of her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Peart, left-- , on Sunday. Before returning to Long Beach she will visit in Salt Lake and Lark with other relatives. Jim Anderson of Denver, Colorado, son of Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Anderson spent Friday and Saturday nights here with his parents. He came to Salt Lake to attend the Mining Engineers meeting of the Mining Congress, held in the Salt Palace. He returned home on Sunday. Albert Johnson of Green River, Wyoming, is spending a few days here visiting with relatives. He came for the funeral services for Bert Hanks. He is a house guest of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Butler. Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Vola Nevers were Mrs. Bina Bate and son, Dale of Provo. Primary plans magazine drive ld ; . h Columbia Rebekah Lodge No. 2, met in regular session last Thursday evening in the Miners Uhlan Hall. Noble Grand, Mary Wheelwright, was in charge of the business session. Janet Merriman of Ogden, warden for the Rebekah Assembly made her official visit to the local lodge and gave a very interesting talk. Bee Ainge gave a reading on "Is She Telling It As It Is?" It was written by a 16 year old girl, telling of the disrespect shown our flag in many meetings. Tentative plans were made for a bake sale to be held in the Memorial Building, Oct 17, the day before the opening of the deer hunt. More about this in a later issue. Several games of Bingo were played, with .Anna Franks win- - ning the high score, and Alliene Farren the cut prize. Frances Ewell and Vola Nevers were the hostesses for the meeting, and served " a tasty lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gourley, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fox and Don Franks. ... JSirtlu Miners Auxiliary- Miners Union Auxiliary met last Wednesday evening in the Miners Union Hall. Vice President Donna Paxman presided. A regular meeting was held, and the two representatives to Girls' State, Mickey Morris and Alice Judge were present and gave interesting talks on their week at Logan, where they attended Girls State. At the close of the meeting Bingo and 500" were played. Alliene Farren won the "500" prize and Georgia Laird, the Bingo, and Vola Nevers, the cut. Tasty refreshments were served by Georgia Laird and Ada Schmidt, hostesses for the meeting. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, October 1.
