Superintendent Nelson is shown accepting the check. fund-raisin- Tintic School District initiates program to include cultural events District, next to the smallest in the state, has started a campaign to participate in cultural activities, and the first will be the Utah Symphony Orchestra. In fact, the music department, under Tintic School the direction of Ronald Griggs, faculty member, is initiating a fund for the orchestras money raising efforts. The district will attend a concert presented by the Utah Symphony on Dec. 1 at Spanish Fork High School. ' The presentation is a cooperative effort through the schools of Nebo District, and the Tintic District will .continue in busing its junior and senior high school students to the morning program. The dis- trict and students are donating admission costs to the program. The band in Tintic, which has nearly one-ha- lf of its THS juniors, seniors go on Provo tour k Juniors and seniors of Tintic High School viisted Utah Technical College ' and Brigham Young University at Provo Friday. Douglas Johnson, graduate interne working for the district on administration, arranged for the visit to orient students with educational opportunities in the vocational and industrial areas. During their tours, the stu-en- ts learned of the program for those students interested in working toward a general college degree. One of the programs about which they are interested was one whereby students still enrolled in high school may participate. It was pointed out that some schools in Utah County, for example, have had students studying at the college while remaining in high school. They are able to work toward high school graduation while participating in excellent vocational and industrial classes. Superintendent Nelson pointed out that this program is one of a number of visits scheduled b ythe district to help youth understand educational possibilities for them beyond the high school level. ring ceremony performed last Friday evening, Nov. 10, at the home of the grooms parents. Her sister, Jan Phillips, was maid of honor and she selected a lavender brocade gown. Tim Hannifin performeed the duties of best man. Refreshments were served following the ceremony. Both young people are graduates of Tintic High School, and the bride attended BYU for a time. They will make their home in Goshen. Relatives here for the wedding were the brides two grandmothers, Mrs. Nan Phil lips, Payson; Mrs. Victor Phillips, Springville and Mrs. Phillips, also of Springville and Mrs. Lucille Bartholomew of Spanish Fork. A regular business session was disposed of and plans were made for the Christmas Party which will be held December 11. Members will exchange gifts. It was also announced that the auxiliary will accept donations for the Veterans Gift Shop at the Veterans' Hospital in Salt Lake City. At the close of the meeting Bingo and 500 were enjoyed. Valene Livingston won the 500 prize and June Fields the Bingo prize, and Della Berry the raffle prize. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. Berry and Cleo Judge. Laurie Hopes, 14 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Hopes of Elberta is confined to the Utah Valley Hospital, Movie, WOMAN OF STRAW'.', Gina ' fined to the Payson Hospital, where she is receiving treatment for a leg injury. Friends are wishing her a speedy and complete recovery. Mrs. Lynn Brady and Mrs. Myrtle Theriault were in Provo on Tuesday, combining business and pleasuree.
