They have visited here for the past four days with Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton Laird and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Walker Sr. They will spend some time at Las Vegas, Nevada and Los Angeles, Calif., with relatives and then fly to Hawaii where they will visit with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Laird. They will be at Guam for two years. Mr. Peterson is employed by the Federal Aviation Agency. Mrs. Nellie Laird and Lana Rae Laird, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Laird, spent last week at Layton, Utah, visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Poulson and family. Mrs. Poul-so- n is a granddaughter of Mrs. Marriage of Lila Rae Anderson of interest to Eureka people Of interest to the people of Eureka is the recent marriage of Lila Rae Anderson and Donald Keith Garner. Lila Rae is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rayburn Reese Anderson of 1310 North First Avenue, Upland. Mrs. Anderson is the former Lila Broderick and is the daughter of Mrs. Virgie Broderick of Eureka. Officiating were the Rev. Mr. Garner, the bridegrooms father, pastor of the First Church of Santee and the Rev. W. A. Schurr, pastor of the Upland church. The ceremony was conducted in the chapel of Upland First Meth-diChurch. Miss Anderson chose a white satin alpaca gown styled with a chapel trian and lace bodice Me-thod- est st Lairds. and sleeves. Honor attendants Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hanks spent Saturday at Orem, Utah, visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hassell and family. bride were Miss Dianne Hamilton, maid of honor, Upland and Mrs. Douglas Baird, Matron of honor, El Monte. Bridesmaids were: Miss Elizabeth Spencer, for the Arcadia; Miss Carol Garner, El Cajon, and Miss Wendy Parker, Beverly Hills. James Garner of Phoenix, as best man for served Arizona, his brother and ushers were Leonard Kobrinsky, Phillip Anderson, Ted Gilliland, John Bolin and Bruce Thompson. A reception followed in the church fellowship hall. The newlyweds are making their home at 612 W. 35th Place, Los Angeles, Calif., and both will continue their education. The bride will begin her senior year at the University of Southern California School of Los Angeles and is a graduate of Upland high school. She belongs to Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Her husband w'ill enter the USC Graduate School of business this fall. He is a graduate of USC and South Mountain high school in Phoenix. Garner is affiliated with Delta Chi, Beta Alpha Psi. CrlL orner Mr. and Mrs. William Mur- phy of Brewster, Washington, are the parents of a baby daughter born Tuesday, July 12. Mrs. Murphy is the former Lois Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Jones of Eureka, who are more than happy to spread the good news. The little newcomer has a brother, Terry, who is pleased over the addition to the family circle. Mr. and Mrs. Jones left Friday for Washington to get acquainted with the new Steven and Johnny Lunt, sons of Mr. and Mrs. James Lunt of Lehi, Utah, are spending the week at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Erickson at Mammoth. Sherrie Lou and Jannette Lester, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Lester of Evanston, Wyoming, are spending some time at Mammoth with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Rose. Honor night held in MIA The MIA Honor Night of the Eureka Ward was held Tuesday evening with Mrs. John Sutherland, the teacher of the class, in charge of the program. Pamela McIntyre, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steele McIntyre, received the individual award for accomplishing all necessary projects. The award is a lovely golden pin in the shape of a rose. The seven members of the class: Pam, Jan Phillips, Jenny Taylor, Ilene Franks, Launa Allinson, Kim Pannell, and Janet Brady took part in a short program and presented the president of the MIA, Mrs. Eldon Lovell, with a beautiful bouquet of roses. Janet Brady played a piano solo and Jan Phillips gave the closing prayer. MIA officers and mothers of the girls were special guests and served tasty refreshments. . Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Anderson spent Tuesday at Provo combining business and pleasure. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Erick- son of American Fork spent the weekend at Mammoth visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Erickson. Mr. Earnest Stephens of Provo, Utah, spent the weekend at Mammoth visiting with his mother and sisters, Mrs. Pearl Stephens and Dixie and Neola. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bernini and sons and Barry Franks, Frankie McCabe and Lloyd Johnson spent last Sunday at Lagoon. Mayor and Mrs. Curtis Butler and family spent Sunday at Salt Lake City visiting with his mother, Mrs. Butler. Mr. and Mrs. James Kensing-e- r and son from Tooele, Utah, were in Eureka on Sunday and Mr. Kensinger conducted services for the Eureka Methodist Church. Mrs. Nathan Morris of Abilene, Texas, is spending some time at Eureka visiting with Alliene Farren. During her visit she and Mrs. Farren will spnd a few days at Las Vegas, Nevada. Mrs. Mr. and Mrs. David Jasper and Jana Lee, Ronnie and Susie Eastwood, children of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Eastwood, are spending the week at Yellowstone National Park. Mr. and Mrs. Frank McCabe and children spent Sunday at Salt Lake City, visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Harry McCabe. Mr. Jack Coffey is confined at the Utah Valley Hospital re- from surgery. Jeannie Baker, daughter of and Mrs. Brooks Baker, California, left Eureka on Sunday after spending a two week vacation here visitiing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Badertscher. Mr. and Mrs. and family took her to the Salt Lake Airport where she boarded a plane for her return trip. BOW IN PLACE Crews of Lockheed Shipbuilding and Construction Company, Seattle, Wash., lower the bow of the USS Denver, LPD-- into place as the hull of the amphibious 9, transport dock nears completion. The ship, using steel plates rolled at United States Steel's Geneva Works in Utah, is scheduled for completion late this year. |
