Show THE EUREKA (UTAH) REPORTER December 11, 1964 Page Three Hamilton Lairds host at party and Mrs. Hamilton Laird were hosts at a birthday party last Friday afternoon for their grandson, Scott Peterson, on the occasion of his 3rd birthday anniversary. Scott is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Peterson of alt Lake City. Family memers attending were grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Walker, Sr., and Joseph Walker, Jr., two great grandmothers, Mrs. Nellie Laird and Mrs. A. L. Broderick; Mr. and Mrs. RoyGourley, Sr.; Mr. and Mrs. John Sutherland and daughter, Becky; Scotts baby sister Kelly Jo and Coli Laird. Scott was really king for the day, and enjoyed all the presents and the attention given to him on his big day. Dinner was served at 5:00 p.m., and the honored guests were the recipients of many lovely gifts. Newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Kokal, who were married In a double ring ceremony November 28 in the St Patrick's Church. Mrs. Kokal was the former Shanna Ryan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard A. Ryan of this city. The grooms parents are Mr. and Mrs. John T. Kokal of Helper. After a honeymoon, the newlyweds went to Salt Lake City to make their home. They are attending the University of Utah. Family members attending were Mr. and Mrs. Sherwin Thomas, Goshen; Mr. and Mrs. Milton Thomas, Dave Thomas, Genola; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Gee of Santaquin; and Mrs. Ed Thomas. A most enjoyable day was reported by all those attending. In a pretty wedding ceremony last Saturday evening, December 5, at the home of Mrs. Margaret Hyde, her daughter, JaNette became the bride of 'Allen Christensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold C. Christensen of Salt Lake City. She was given in marriage by an uncle Albert Eva. Bishop Denton Bartschi of the Eureka LDS Ward performed the ceremony at 6:00 p.m. in the presence of the families. The attractive bride wore a gown of peau de sole and Chantilly lace. The lace bodice was fashioned with a rounded neckline, and three-quartlength sleeves. The full skirt fell into a short train, and her shoulder length veil was caught with a tiara of seed pearls and sequins. She carried a white bible, centered with white rose buds. j Ann Rose was bridesmaid and wore a pink tafetta dress with pink accessories. Her corsage was pink rose buds. Reed S. Gale was the best man. Immediately following the nuptials, an open house 'honored the newlyweds at the LDS Cultural Hall. Mother of file bride greeted guests in a brussellace winter er Miners Union Auxiliary from Campbell, California Of interest to many Eurek-an- s and former residents is the announcement of the marriage of Geraldine Elizabeth Jones and Norman Jerry Bate, son of Mrs. William J. Bate, and the late William J. Bate, form er Eurekans. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Mayer of Campbell, California. The ceremony was performed on Sunday, November 29, in the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Los Gotos, Calif. Rev. B. Bedecker officiated at the nuptials. The bride entered the church on the arm of her father. For her wedding, the bride Reception honors young newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Christensen chose a dress of pastel pink organza nylon with nylon net overskirt The lace bodice featured long sleeves pointed at the wrist Her head piece was fashioned of a satin bow with nylon netting, falling to the shoulders. She carried a Prayer Book, centered with red and white feathered carnations and cascading white and ivory ribbon streamers. Elizabeth Seward was matron of honor and wore a gown of melon pink, with a hat of matching net She carried white carnations with red streamers. Randy Naylor, cousin of the groom, was best man. Ushers were Arman Mayer, brother of the bride and Robert Schultz. For her daughters wedding, Mrs. Mayer chose a royal blue net dress, with black accessories. Mrs. Bate selected a gown of medium two-pie- ce blue net, with black accessories. Both wore corsages of pink rose buds. The newlyweds were honored immediately following the nuptials, at a reception in the church educational building. A pink, white and silver color scheme was carried out in the church decorations and at the reception. The young couple left that evening for a honeymoon, and upon their return will make a home in Campbell, Calif. The groom is a graduate of Tintic High School, and served four years in the service. The Bate family and Randy Naylor are former residents of Eureka. The Bate family moved to California a few years ago where they have since made their home. Order of Eastern Star Worthy Matron, Mabel Butler, presided at the Monday evening meeting of the Chapter No. 18 Order of Eastern Star. Worthy Patron Leslie Randle assisted. A regular business session was disposed of,' and it was announced that an installation of an officer would be held at the next regular meetiing. The Christmas party will be held on Dec. 21. Joe Roach and Janet Anderson will be on the refreshment committee and Patricia Brady and Vola Nev-er- s will have charge of the program. At the close of the Chapter work, refreshments were served by Leslie and Virginia Randle and Mabel Butler. Tintic Lodge No. 9 Tintic Lodge No. 9, F.&A.M. held a regular meeting Tuesday evening December 8, when an election of officers was held. The following officers for the coming year were elected: Lawrence F. Butler, Worshipful master; Joseph Roach, senior warden; Alphonso Hester, Jr., Junior warden; Leslie d, Randle treasurer; Elmer secretary; three-yetrustee, Frank R. Tuckett. Installation of the newly elected officers will be held on Wes-terlun- ar Dec. 19. Altar Society St. Patricks Altar Society held a regular meeting Monday evening at the Rectory. President Ellen Muth presided. After the routine business had been taken care of, plans were made for a holiday party, which is to be held on Dec. 29, at the Rectory. At the close of the evening light refreshments were served. names new leaders President La Rue Fox presided at the meeting of the Miners Union Auxiliary held last Wednesday evening. Election of officers was the first order of business during the meeting and those elected were as follows: president, Georgia Laird; vice president, Virginia Bradford; recording ' secretary, Clara Garbett; financial secretary, Alliene F&r-reWarden, Elva Webb; treasurer, Mildred Davis When the election was concluded, plans were made for the Christmas party, which is scheduled for Wednesday 16. The members voted to buy candy and hose for the Eureka ladies and men in the rest n; white suit while mother of the groom wore a pink brocade tafetta street dress. Both pinned on corsages of pink rose buds. A short program was presented with Dwain Garbett as master of ceremonies. The program follows: Piano solo, Richard Hyde, brother of the bride; vocal duet, Ann and Dan vid Garbett; ladies quartet, Berry, Ann Garbett, Betty obinson and Wanda Colovlch. Norma Jameson was the accompanist for the vocal numbers; toast to the bride and groom, Elizabeth Castleton; piano solo, Susan Sanderson; vocal duet Jolynn Jameson and Adele Nebeker and a reading, Rachael Long. Refreshments were served following the program. A beautiful pink and white three-tie-r wedding cake centered a lace covered table.Mrs. Florence Garbett was in charge of the guest book and Gloria and Elizabeth Castleton and Carol Ann Webb were in charge of the gift room. Mrs. Denton Bartschi took care of the serving, which was done by the Merrlhand Primary class. The young people left immediately following the reception for Salt Lake where they will make their home for the present. New Mrs. Christensen is a graduate of Tintic High School and has been employed in Salt Lake City for the past several months. The groom attended school In Salt Lake and served a two-yeLDS Mission in Denmark, and is presently employed in the city. Af-to- - . ar homes in Nephi, Payson, Spanish Fork and Provo. After the business of the evening had been disposed of 500 and Bingo were enjoyed. High score for 500 was won by Mrs. Fhrren, the Bingo by. lone Ryan, and the cut prize by Clara Garbett Mrs. Alice Peart was hostess for the meeting and served a tasty lunch. |
