The reason: postal rate hikes approved by Congress last fall went into effect at midnight Monday. The cost of mailing a letter or postcard rose by a penny, making the new rates: Five cents for first class letters. Four cents for regular postcards. Eight cents for airmail let- ters (one ounce.) Mr. and Mrs. John Lemmon and two boys of Magna, were in town last Saturday visiting with her mother, Mrs. Della Allinson- and other relatives. Mrs. Margaret Duncan is confined to the Nephi Hospital where she is recovering treatment for concussion, suffered last week in a fall at her home. Latest reports are that she is somewhat improved, which her friends will be glad to learn, and all are wishing her continued improvement. Ed Webber and son, Ed Jr., of Orem were in town on Sunday, spending the day with Mp Webbers mother, Mrs. Wilma Webber. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomas were her sister and brother-in-laMr. and Mrs. Bill Phillips and son, Mike, and a brother and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Kay Calkins and children, and Chyr-l- e Thomas of Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Elmont Lemmon and family spent a day here last week, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold 5-c- ent Denton Bartschi conducted the Sunday evening services at the Eureka LDS Ward. Mu- sic was by Ann Garbett at the piano and Carolee Bigler, chorister. The opening prayer was by Dale Jones; the Sacrament Gem was given by Earl Mc- Intyre. Melvin F. Long, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Long was blessed by Duane Garbett, and Paula Du Bois was continued by Dean Eataugh, and Douglas Rynearson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Rynearson, was confirmed by her grandfather, Frank Robinson; Marsha Phillips was confirmed by her father, Verl Phillips. The benediction was given by George Castleton. Returning to Salt Lake City on Sunday to resume their school work at St. Marys of the Wasatch, were the Misses Joan, Mary and Ann Quigley, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. James Quigley, and Miss Margo Spencer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Spencer. The young ladies had enjoyed the holiday vacation here with their parents. Miss Mary Ellen Ferguson, "of Mr. Bert FerguMiss son, and Marjorie Randle, Mr. and Mrs. Lesof daughter lie Randle, returned to Salt Lake Sunday, where they will daughter resume their studies at Westminister College. They spent the holidays here with their parents. Robert L. Garity was sufficiently recovered from a recent illness to be released to his home last Saturday. He was confined to the Payson hospital for a few days. His many friends are hoping for continued improvement.
