They also visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Austin of Nephl before returning to the city. Mr. and Mrs. Alton Baker of Pasadena, Calif., visited here recently with relatives and friends. They are former residents of Eureka. They were house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Naef. Mr. A Mrs. Cecil Livingston made a trip last week to Capitol Reef in Wayne County. They also visited the Petrified Forest They state that the fall colors are really beautiful. While in the area they visited with a cousin, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hunt in Tory. Mrs, Richard Bate is in the Payson Hospital where she is being given medical treatment. A speedy recovery is being wished by her many friends. Castleton). Earl Stewart returned home last week from a three-wee- k vacation to Nevada and California. Their first stop wds at Reno, where they spent a couple of days with a son, Fred Radtke, then on to San Jose, where they visited with another son and his family, Lt. Commander Bob Radtke. While there Bob took them to San Francisco, where they enjoyed dinner on the Coral Sea". an Aircraft Carrier. Bob had recently returned from a trip to the Philippines and Japan, on the carrier, which was in dry dock in San Francisco for repairs. They traveled to Long Beach where they spent a few days with her mother, Mrs. Annie Whitehead and other relatives. While in Long Beach they attended a birthday celebration for Mrs. Whitehead, the occasion being her 85th birthday anniversary. The Whitehead family resided in Eureka for a number o f years, and Mrs. Whitehead will be remembered by many in Eureka and many former residents. They drove to Huntington Beach and enjoyed a visit with Mrs. Merle Fullmer, a former resident of Eurika. A regular meeting was held, and plans were made for giving away a cedar chest filled with hand work, linens etc. The cedar chest will be given away in the next month.. The funds derived from the sale will be used for Child Welfare work, and for needy service .families. Membership was also discussed and members were urged to get their membership cards as soon as possible. The study for the month .is in Education and Legislation. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fennell of Las Vegas were back in town last Thursday and Friday, visiting with her mother, Mrs. Ruby Bigler, Mr, and Mrs. Mac Bigler and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Fennell. They were house guests of Mrs. Fennell's mother, Mrs. Ruby Bigler. They left for their- home Saturday morning. They had been in San Diego, Calif., where they made the acquaintance of their first granddaughter. The welcome little tot is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Craig Fennell. She arrived on Sept. 22, and weighed 5 lbs., 6 on. and will be named Dawn. Needless to say, the Fennells are thrilled over their first grandchild.
