At the City Council meeting, Mayor Beck named Edward Pike for the office of iCty Attorney and the apopintment was unanimously confirmed by the council. Mr. Pike was named to fill the vacancy made when Jack Christopherson resigned. The salary was fixed at $42.50 a month. Business of a routine nature was taken care of. John H. Andrew and R. E. Ferguson opened a drug store in place of Schramm-- J ohnson. It took the new name of Tintic Drug Store. Nels L. Nelson was called to the valley by a message informing him of the death of his father, Christian Nelson, age 85. His home was at Salem. Death was due to ailments of old age. Mrs. Mary Potts was called to Long Beach, Calif., on account of the death of her sister, Mrs. Lizzie Turner. Mr. and Mrs. Lon Sands trom and children left for Callao in thewestem end of the county. Mr. Sandstrom had charge of the school in that town. Mayor and Mrs. Dean Beck were at Provo attending the Utah State Municipal League convention. They also visited Wftgt August 25, 1961 Niel- son. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Edwards and children of Salt Lake City were in town visiting with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Taft Watts re- turned to Eureka after spending the summer at Kanosh. Loey Hutchinson of Portland, Oregon, was in town visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Galloway. Mrs. Ida Briskey of Whittier, Calif., was visiting in Eureka with friends. She- - was house guest of Mrs. Stella Shea. Cloyed Jameson, who had been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jameson, returned to his job in Santa Monica, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Brown and son Jerry, Mrs. Frank Gar-rit- y and Mary Francis were visiting friends in Milford. Mrs. Ernest Sax and son Bud were in Salt Lake City, where Bud was receiving treatment on his feet. Mr. and Mrs. LaMar G rote-gwho had spent the summer in the valley, returned to Mammoth where the former will resume his position in the schools Mrs. ut there. Mr. and Mrs. Tony Echevar-riett- a were rejoicing ocer the birth of a baby boy bom at the Holy Cross Hospital. Carma Jean Staheli, Gov. George D. Clyde, Jim Lundberg and Neal Lundberg, left to ter, Mrs. Frances Carlson and daughter, Debbie and Mrs. Alex Nacin and daughter, Barbara of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Crawford Mrs. Elva Cullen of Salt Lake spent Sunday here, where she was a guest of Mrs. Clare Larson. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Randle and Diane, were in Salt Lake last Saturday, where they attended the wedding and reception for Mrs. Randles Nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Brown. Judy Cook of Goshen, spent the week end here with her grandmother, Mrs. Florence Gillespie. Other guests on Wed. of last wek were her daugh- - and two daughters left last week for Arizona. They have made their home here for the past several months. Mr. Crawford is employed by Boyles Bros. Co. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lucas were in Salt Lake on Sunday visiting with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gar-el- d Brown. Wm. Taxman and daughter, Maxine and Mrs. Anna McDonnell made a trip to Salt Lake last Wednesday. Mrs. Paxman and daughter visited with her mother, Mrs. P. N. Anderson and with Mr. Mrs. . right, map plane for the big Dixie Centen- nial celebration coming up in St. George. and Mrs. Bliss Mikesell in the city, and Mrs. McDonnell was an overnight guest on Wednesday at the home of her sister, Mrs. Florence Bruno in Midvale. They returned to on Thursday. Eureka Miss Noel Fitch, Miss Eileen Spencer, and Miss Joan Quig- were in Salt Lake on Sat., attending the wedding and reley, ception for Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Brown. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bradford of Spanish Fork, were in town last Thursday, visiting with her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Colovitch. Mr. and Mrs. and daughter, Globe, Ariz., Jack Jameson Virginia, and of another Mr. daughter and and Mrs. Jerry Kelsey (Joan) son-in-la- w, of Gallup, New Mexico, spent the weekend here with Mr. Jamesons mother Mrs. Alice Jameson and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Toone of Reno arrived in Mammoth Tuesday evening, where they are guests of Mikes parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Toone. They were enroute to Reno, after a trip to the northwest, where they visited Glacier National Park and other scenic spots in that area. They spent a day in Evanston, Wyo., with Mikes sister and family, the Alan Lesters. While here they will visit with Mrs. Toones sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Don Rushby in Mammoth, and will go to Payson for a visit with her father and grandmother, Earl Spencer and Mrs. Mimi Love.
