Rife The North Standard Mining companys property in the East Tintic District, inactive for about seven years, was to reopen according to John Dorius of Salt Lake City, secretary of the company. The mine was fully equipped and had been reconditioned periodically. The boys were Harold Hicks sponsored by the American Legion; Allan Randle by' Thomas Randle; 'Rex Reid by Fred Milliman; from the thirteenth senatorial district which comprises Juab I and Tooele counties. El wood Loveridge, Scoutmaster of Troop 111 released the report for the six months period. Eureka had 52 registered Scouts and 5 registered Scout-er- s. This total had grown from a nucleus of. 6 boys. Since Jan. 1, 1940 the troop had held 6 active projects including hikes and trips and participated in two district socials. Fifty advancements had been earned as well as 35 merit badges. A total of 26 meetings had been held with an average attendance of 30 Scouts. The boys were working hard preparing for the Nebo Summer Camp. Plans were rapidly being completed to make the 24th of July celebration one of the best the district had ever had. Business people and individuals were responding splendidly toward making the parade the best miniature parade ever held in Eureka. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Ther. iault and daughter Patricia Ann left for Fenstuke, Minn., to visit the parents of Mr. Theriault. They made .the trip by plane. Mrs. B. R. Broderick and little son Benny of Portland, Oregon and Mrs. T. H. Fowler of Richland, Calif were visiting with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Myers. The regular meeting of the Lady Elks was held at the club rooms. One of the officials from Salt Lake City stated that thte district has drawn heavily on the blood bank and there were not nearly enough donors to' replenish the supply. He also stated that if more people did not respond to the call, ' it might be possible that the program would have to be. discontinued as far as Tintic was concerned.
