Miss Goldie Wheler of Silver City, Miss Cecil Wilson, and Miss Ann Sullivan of Eureka left for the state of New York to attend summer school ,at Columbia University. ?They made the trip by car. Mrs. Bud Painter and Mrs. Francis Davey were at Salt Lake City, visiting their husbands. Mr. Painter was in .the LDS Hospital and Mr. Davey at the Holy Cross hospital. Mrs. Catherine Jones, for a number of years a prominent teacher in the schools of Eureka was married at Oakland, Calif., to Alfred R. Shafer. John Ernest Berry, 64, passed away at a Salt Lake hospital of Silicosis. At the Payson hospital, twin boys were bom to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Buys .Each of the babies weighed 6 pounds. The father is a twin himself. Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Sax and children of Salt Lake City were visiting Mrs. Saxs parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Jones. They were former residents of Eureka. The archery deer season, now set for September 3 through September 18, is the first hunt of the year for this most popular and abundant of Utahs big game animals. Recently set by Board of Big Game Control action, the season includes the long Labor Day weekend as well as two other weekends of hunting. Hunting will be on a statewide basis with deer of either sex being legal game. The law again requires that purchasers of archery deer permits must first possess a regular big game hunting license. Paul Vom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Voss of Los Angeles, was back in town last week for a short visit with the Lee Bird family.
