The regular card party given by the ladies of the Catholic church was held at St. Josephs school hall. In the play- ing of bridge, Mrs. Frank Gar-rit- y and John Donnelly won high score prizes; for 500, Mrs. Margaret Freethy and Mel Roberts won first prize. Mrs. Agnes Platt won the door prize. A delicious luncheon was served. Mrs. Mary A. Potts announced the engagement of- her granddaughter Miss Viola Mae White to Clarence Peterson, son of Mr. and 'Mrs. P. A. Peterson of Salem, Utah. Bill, the nine year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hannifin returned home from the Holy Cross Hospital at Salt Lake, where he submitted to a mastoid operation. John Morley Sr., returned to Eureka after having spent six weeks in the San Francisco area of California with his and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. A. L. George.. A. B. ' Gibson, editor and owner of the Times News in Nephi was visiting with friends in Eureka. Allen Fred Olson of Eureka Mrs. Larry Regis of Price spent the weekend here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wil- son Lee. -- Mrs. W. F. Fainter, Mrs. Hal Nebeker, Mrs. Mont Hansen, Mrs. Cloyd Jameson, and Mrs. Howard Greenhalgh, were in Springville Monday evening where they participated in a few games of bowling. The ladies are making an effort to form a league of Eureka ladies, and are requesting that anyone interested in joining to call Mrs. Fainter or Mrs. Nebeker for further information. - son-in-la- May 20, 1960 THE EUREKA (UTAH) REPORTER Miss Ruth Potts is confined to the Payson Hospital, where she underwent surgery last Thursday. Family members report that she is recuperating nicely, which her many friends will be happy to know. All are wishing her a speedy recovery. Father R. A. Daz and Mrs. Driscoll were in Nephi Mary Tuesday afternoon, where they visited with Miss Francis Jones and Mrs. Della Berry, who have been confined to the hospital for the past few weeks. They also visited with Mrs. Margaret Drew and Mrs. Pete Sorensen, who are patients there. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sorensen received word this week that their grandson, Jack Lemmon is in the Childrens Primary Hospital in Salt Lake, where he is being treated for an illness. He is the son of " Mr. and Mrs.' Elmont Lemmon of Grantsville, former residents of Mammoth. Friends of ' Mrs. Dennis Harrington are welcoming her back home once again. She has spent the winter months in Provo, with her daughter, Margaret, who is employed there. Mr. and Mrs. George Forsey spent last Thursday in Richfield, where they combined business and pleasure. They visited at the home of Mr. Forseys brother and family, the Jim Forseys. Roscoe Harper received word recently that his mother, Mrs. Kent Harper of Bloomington, Calif., is confined to a hospital in San Bernardino, where she is receiving treatment for an undetermined illness. She made her home here for many years, and her friends are wishing her a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Anderson spent a day last week in Ogden, where they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Yama-shita. Mrs. Roland Gillespie spent a few days last week in Cedar Fort with her daughter and family, the Glade Berrys. Alexander Blight and Fred Blight were in Park City Saturday evening, attending a meeting of the Grand Lodge of Masons. . 4 A. Daz, Mrs. J. Mrs. Frank Mc- Father R. A. Bernini, Cabe and Mrs. Henry Wall, were in Helper on Saturday attending the 32nd Convention of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. Meetings were held on Friday and Saturday with Bishop Joseph L. Federal of Salt Lake Diocese as the guest speaker. ' Mrs. Luella Gear returned home last Saturday after spending the past two weeks in Salt Lake with her daughter and family, the Emron Birch family, and with her son and daughter-in-laMr. and Mrs. Wm. Gear and small son. The Wm. Gear family accompanied Mrs. Gear to Eureka, and Mrs. Elsie Nilson also accompanied the group to . , w, w . left for the U. S. Naval Recruiting station in Salt Lake City. He is the son of Mrs. Amy Bates. The board of directors of Zuma Mining Company levied ' an assessment of 1 cent a share on the outstanding capital stock of the corporation, this being assessment No. 45. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Marton and little daughter of San Bernardino, Calif., were in Eureka, being called on account of the serious illness and death of Mrs. Martins mother, Mrs. Sophia Carpenter. The officers of Tintic Lodge No. 711, BPO Elks announced a Mothers Day program for Sunday May 12th. Mr. and Mrs. V. L Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Burton drove to the west end of Juab county last Sunday, wherethey visited in Callao, Gandy, and Eskdale They enjoyed a picnic lunch near Eskdale and visited with Mr., and Mrs. Falken-bur- g in Callao. - Mrs. Lynn Riggs and two sons of Idaho Falls, are spending a couple of weeks here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Andrew.
