Show DEVOTED TO THE GREAT TINTIO MINING DISTRICT VOLUME XXXIV HOME OF THE WORLDS LARGEST SILVER-LEA- D MINES EUREKA, JUAB COUNTY, UTAH, THURSDAY, MAY 30, 1935. Number 30 Commencement Exercises of Schools Well Attended Eureka Voters Favor Bond Issue Banking Company . .... The taxpayers of Eureka approved the bond Issue at the election held last Friday by a vote of 112 to 9, In one of the smallest elections ever held In this city. The amount of the bond Issue la $37,000.00. This removes the last obstacle in the citys fight to secure $50,000.00 from the Public Works Administration of the government for developing a water supply, metering the city' and repairing and improving the water lineal The vote last Friday by precincts was as follows: No. 1 38 for and advertised In he Reporter and it for and four against; No. against. One of the reasons why the vote was so small Is that only those persons who paid a tax last year were permitted to cast a ballot and thus the eligible voters were reduced to 394 in number. There are many who are still of the' opinion that the total amount of the loan Is going to be spent In the ' city well in an effort to develop water. This is not the case. Only a porton of it will be used for this purpose, and it Is the intention .to') discontinue the development In the event that a certain amount of work does not produce a substantial In- crease in the flow. Moat of the ! money will be used to Improve the waiter system and especially for the purpose of Installing meters. City officials are reluctant to state Just when the work can be started ' but It Is learned that from six to eight weeks will be required in order to complete the final details. The ' firm of Caldwell and Richards of Salt ! Lake City has been engaged to' handle the work. Already they have ! made a preliminary surrey and with-- , In a short time will be back to com-- :, I mence actual work. The council met on Monday even- lng to canvas the vote of the elec- tlon and report that the count as first given out was correct. .
