We have discovered that, each group is right from their point of view. We liave tried to work together with some give and take. We have in no way attempted to dictate to the State what they would or would not do. During the past year, attempts have been made to create the same type of working relationship with those who are In charge of the Ute Indian Trllie Fish and Game Department and those who set policy. We are all grateful for the opportunity to travel, camp, hunt, fish, etc. on tribal land. Finally, we would like to recognise the fact that the Ute Indian Tribe is a sovecorporation within the reign, United States of America. No responsible person would deny the fact that the Tribe has the authority to regulate what transpires within the confines of the reservation for the benefit of their people. We certainly would like to state publlcally that we respect that right. Just what is our position then? We Dewould simply like to be involved. cause a problem exists in the Uintah liasln where residents are upset over the decline of deer herd populations, attempts have been made to work closely with the Utah State Division of Wildlife Resources. We feel that the Trllie, Division of Wildlife Resources, and local sportsmen can work cooperatively together and inform each other on what each is planning to do so that we can mutually support one another in our actions. In reference to our contempt for the post-seashunt, especially on herd Unit 22, we feel that the statistics will bear out the fears of losing our deer herds. We too have checked with the technicians and personnel of tlie Utah State Divison of Wildlife Resources and find their figures most revealing. However, as mentioned above, individual interpretations of the data can lie different. These differences are what we feel we have to talk about. V. Sports shows and KVEL Saturday (Sept. 23) sport show. Their ultimate goals are control, post all lands, for their consumption, and lobby until this is accomplished. I would like to propose these questions; What are the goals of groups In this wonderful USA that advocate boycott? What are the purpose and goals of lobby and dictatorial pressure groups in this country? Ralph Nader dogma tactics are not functional on this or any other matter I Being an ex Utah State Game Conservation volunteer officer in years past, I feel discouraged that the local division of Wildlife Resources has taken the position they have on this matter. I trust the State level is not aware nor concurrs with this position and a correction is forthcoming. I would like to close with this thought the .Ute Tribe has been exploited on this ind other issues. They have been dormant too long and I encourage them to take this position more often.
