It will be held at the American Legion Hall In Ducheane and It will be sponsored by the Western Boys Baseball association, Duchesne league. This will be open to everyone In the county who would like to come. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Bartlett and family arrived home Friday after a weeks vacation In Arizona and California. The Bartletts went to Tempe, Arlz., where they picked up their daughter Nina, who was Just released from a 2 year mission. They then traveled to San Diego, Calif., where they visited Mrs. Fred Bartlett and to Redondo Beach where they visited the Deward Cook family. Visiting Mr. and Mrs.. Boyd Lemon and family over the weekend were Boyd's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Lemon and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Loderny, Salt Friendship Club The Duchesne Friendship club was held at the home of Annie Mezenen on Wed- nesday evening with Venla Gee as cohostess. Fifteen members and guests enjoyed a chicken dinner with all the trimmings. Mrs. Marguerite Blaln, who will be going to the hospital, was honored. Monday Bridge Club A Golden anniversary dessert luncheon was enjoyed and An open house will be held In observance of the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Iven G. Ross on Nov. 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Craig Harvard residence 396 North 1st West in Vernal. The couple was married In Vernal Nov. 4, 1921. The marriage was solemnized In the Salt lake IDS Temple In 1923. Mr. Ross was born In Clines and moved to Tridell at the age of six. He helped the afternoon was spent playing bridge. The prizes were won by Mrs. Harrison and Mrs. Lawrell Jensen. Recipe of tEie Week BEEF BIRDS DELUXE 1 beef round steak, cut 12 Inch thick 12 pound fresh mushrooms 12 cup chopped parsley 12 cup chopped onion 1 cup grated Cheddar cheese 14 cup flour 1 teaspoon salt 18 teaspoon pepper 3 tablespoons lard or drippings 1 can (10 12 ounces) condensed consomme 12 teaspoon dry mustard Flour for gravy Cut steak Into 6 servings and pound to 14 Inch thickness. Remove mushroom stems and chop stems. Recaps serve caps. Combine chopped mushroom stems, parsley, onion and cheese. Place from 3 tablespoons approximately stuffing mixture In center of each piece of steak, reserving remaining stuffing. Roll as a Jelly roll and fasten with wooden picks or string. Combine flour, salt and pepper. Dredge meat in seasoned flour. Brown In lard or drippings. Pour off drippings. Combine consomme and dry mustard and add to steak rolls. Add mushroom caps. Cover tightly and cook slowly 45 minutes. Add remaining stuffing mixture and continue cooking 45 minutes or until meat Is tender. Thicken cooking liquid with flour for gravy. 4 to 6 servings. INDIVIDUAL SWISS STEAKS beef round steak, cut 34 Inch thick 14 cup flour 2 teaspoons salt 18 teaspoon pepper 3 tablespoons lard or drippings 18 teaspoon thyme 1 medium onion, sliced. 12 cup sliced celery 1 can (16 ounces) tomatoes Cut steak Into 4 to 6 pieces, combine flour, salt and pepper. Pound seasoned Brown In lard or flour Into steaks. drippings. Pour off drippings. Add thyme, onion, celery and tomatoes. Cover tightly and cook slowly 1 12 to 2 hours or until meat Is tender. Mr. and Mrs. Roland McCook drove to Salt Lake City Wednesday with Mr. McCooks father, Ouray McCook who reglsterd In the LDS Hospital and underwent surgery for cataracts. Stanford and Floyd McCook brought their father home from the hospital on Sunday and he reportedly Is doing well. Ed Emmons, Ray Smith and Rex Curry were In Salt Lake Wednesday on business for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Tribal Council. Mrs. Elaine Valverde represented Head Start Director Jason Cuch at the State Head Start Directors meeting In Salt Lake. Mrs. Valverde Is the newly appointed Day Care Coordinator at Fort Duchesne. Head Start Director Jason Cuch spent last week In Santa Fe, N. M. at the National Head Start Advisory Board meeting.
