Thursday, September 24, has been set for a Junior high party. Plans are being made to Include a marshmallow roast, fun and games. The highlight of the day will be a record hop upon returning to the school. Band officers for both the high school and Junior high have been elected. They are as follows: Senior high president, Linda Peatross; Librarian, Mary Welsh; Reporter, Steve Terry; Junior high president, Bruce Tollefson,; librarian, Jackie MUdgett; Reporter, Dlan Ivle. hltlatlon has been tentatively set for Friday Sept. 25. Events will include the whitewashing of the "D", an assembly, parading through the elementary and a car wash. A dance will be held Sept. There 26, sponsored by the Seniors. will be a rock band, the public Is Invited to attend. Monday, Sept. 21, the DHS studentbody was transported to the Starvation Bridge to witness Its dedication by Governor Rampton. The band took part, playing several numbers. The program consisted of speeches by officials of the highway dept., and others connected with the Starvation Dam Project and the bridge. R was a historical moment to be remembered by many. Several band members and Mrs. Bredenbroker, their director, assisted the governor In cutting the ceremonial ribbon. Bears, coached by Duane Riche ns; Lions, coached by Kent Olsen; Carden Ills, coached by Kent Denver; and Smiley's coached by Smiley Denver. Last weeks action brought a 48-victory for the Bears over the Lions. R was a hard fought game all the way with several chilling touchdowns made from the kickoffs. Keith Sprouse, Kenny Rlchens and Mark Hlcken were the main scorers for the Bears, with Larry Jensen and Larry Freston making touchdowns for the Lions. The second game ended with the CarWade Baird, dinals 36, Smileys 12. Bill Ellison scored and Berrett Logan touchdowns for the Cardinals, with Benny Van and Bill Ellison making the extra Smiley's scorers were Kenny points. Trowbridge and Steven Lamb. There were also other outstanding players who make these plays possible. Sept. 24, Smileys meets the Lions at 5:30; Bears meet Cardinals at 7 p.m. Last weeks games brought the team standings to: Bears, 1 tie , 1 win; Lions, 2 losses; Cardinals, 2 wins; Smileys, 1 loss and 1 tie. ed happened. That night a dance sponsored by the Seniors was enjoyed by everyone. Volleyball teams are being chosen for both boys and girls, both teams are looking forward to championships. A few play later, aa Union began moving the ball up field, Wasatch Intercepted a long Cougar pass, which could have gone all the way had a Wasatch defender not read the play so accurately. They quickly converted thla turnover Into another score. And before the final buzzer had sounded, a third touchdown had been racked up against the dejected Cougars. This Is a chance to learn or update your knowledge about the Cub Scout program, especially since changes have occurred within the last three to five years. 32 Cougar World concert scheduled for Sept. 30 Upland game will be the target for thousands of scattergunners this Saturday, as the 1970 upland game season gets undorway, Chukar, Hugarlan partridge, forest grouse, turkey, and cottontail rabbit will be legal game beginning at daylight September 26. ' Partridge, grouse, and cottontail can be hunted on a small game or combination license , but a special turkey permit Is required to hunt this largest of upland game birds. Turkey permits are available for $3 from any Division of Fish and Game office. Turkey hunters may use a shotgun or centerflre rifle for taking turkey. A bow and broadhead arrows is also legal. Turkey hunters are limited to shotguns 20 guage or larger and shot size from number 6 to BB. There are no weapon restrictions for cottontail rabbit except for areas open for hunting bighorn sheep, buffalo, elk and moose. In thse areas, cottontail hunters may use a shotgun only. Upland game proclamations are available at Fish and Game offices and license agents throughout the state. Hunters are advised to obtain a copy now and become familiar with rules governing the hunt.
