William J. Ostler, Roosevelt county commission chairman, said letters to this effect had been sent to Governor Calvin L. Rampton and to the state welfare commission official, Ward Holbrook. The matter of the proposed regionalization was brought to the attention of the county commission by Mrs. Irvin A. Cole, ar member Duchesne, a of the Duchesne County Board of Welfare. It was pointed out at the commission meeting that the plan is for the geographic reorganization from the present county form of administration of the public welfare program to that of a regional for m of admin- istration. Under the plan, it is proposed that the counties of Utah, Wasatch, Duchesne, Uintah and Daggett be placed in Region Three, with the regional office in Provo and the district office in Vernal. The Duchesne County Department of Public Welfare has operated several years from its office location in Duchesne. Its staff is a director, a child wel- fare worker, three case worksecretary and ers, a full-tia stenographer. Wll-m- er Murray, Myton, Is the chairman, Clarence D. Moat, Duchesne, is the executive director. The welfare board for the county is comprised of seven members, representing various areas of the county. And for the sake of our senior citizens, who need the welfare workers, help, let's have them live here with the oldsters, when available they are needed." PIPE lonKiMtumiiiiaxfili) Under this proposed plan for regionalization an office would be retained in each county from which caseworkers would manage their case loads, the outlined plan Indicates. Office hours would be posted so that individuals in the community would know when a caseworker would-bavailable. It is recommended that coun- - t y welfare boards be retained in their present form and assume their present responsibility. There is indication that regional boards (composed of one representative from each of the counties within the region) should be considered for future planning. Poetry Corner As I lay in my bed this morning, old memories came creeping in, of a dear baby boy I once held in my arms. So innocent of sorrow and sin. I watched him through his childhood days. Tried to teach him to do what was right, never dreaming it wouldnt be very long till hed be called to fight. I watched him in grade school and in high school too, and then came that dreaded day, when he said, Mom, I joined the Marine Corp, and soon he was gone away. For thirteen long months I prayed for him, and God in his love for all 'of us answered my prayers and kept him safe and brought him bade to us. were so four-and-a-h- ne do, so Fm returning to Vietnam but remember, I love all of you." eyes filled with tears, but my heart filled with pride, to know our boy had volunteered once more to fight for our side.
