V, Larson has been our family doctor .luce he moved to Roosevelt af't-- r World War 2, All thuse many years he has been the same wonderful CORRESPONDENTS: never Next Tuesday, November 7, Is an important day for many dents of Duchesne County, it Is the day set aside for the election of municipal leudera for the various communities. A full slate of candidates is m: the bullets for Duchesne, Myton n and Roosevelt, where three will be named for each c!'y Tiie three men who arc named will hold office for the next four yenr. and during that time will help direct the affairs of each community. Towns In the area will also elect members to serve on town boards. coun-dlmc- How Important Is a city elec ection? When compared to state and national contests, the local political buttle seems to draw little interest, Poor voter turnout, and prohiihly less Interest in finding out the facts about the candidates and tlwir plnns for the future of the city have plagued locul elections In tho past, Perhaps one of the reasons for this opoplhy Is that state and national elections have become so colorful that local residents can't seem to get too worked up about a contest where the men do not actually go out and battle for the job. In most cases the candidate lias been asked to run by a group of interested citizens. He feels that. If he receives a mandate by the people of the community, he will do the job to the beat of his ability. However, to spend large sums of money to run a color-fi- d campaign to seek a job of little remuneration, few thanks, and I ' oi abuse, seems out of tno question for most candidates or parties. For this reason, It is primarily up to the voter to find out what type of men arc running for the office. Although, In smull com- munities, everyone pretty well knows everyone else, It often surprises some voters when they dig into the relative merits of two "friends" who might be running for tho city council. Not only must the individhe must tie cap ual be wcll-llkeable of handling decisions that affect thousands of dollars in local tax monies us well as tho future of the community. He must have the ability to meet people, to thoroughly, not he prone to snap decisions, congenial to work with in a group which must rub shoulders often, and he must have the best interest of the community and its residents at heart at all times. With the future of our communities on the auction block, as it were, particularly for the next four years, it behooves every eligible voter in each community to make his voice heurd. Don't let apathy rob you of the privilege and obligation of naming the leaders of the city. The only way the voice of the people can be heard is to have all the people speak out at the ballot box. Remember, find out more about the candidates, even if you have known them all your life. Choose the three who will best serve the needs of the community during the next four years, and go to the polls next Tuesday and vote your convictions. d, ren-so- throughout the State were according to Stats Savings Bonds Director Kathleen Melkla.
