V Self-Estee- machinery funeral held at Fort Duchesne This area should be explored for the future. Although the junior livestock sale this year was one of the best in recent years which should help build a bettor show next yeari we felt, as did many others, that the livestock division as a whole is drastically weak, particularly in a county which bases a great deal of its agricultural wealth on the livestock industry. The glamor of the livestock show' is reduced because the animals are on the grounds such a short time. Exhibitors feel that it is hardly umth the effort to truck their animals to the show' Friday morning for the judging, and have them on display during the afternoon, then return home that evening. Some have suggested that in order to bring more emphasis to this area of the fair, livestock exhibits should be entered by 10 a.m. Thursday morning, with judging to take place that day. The animals would then remain on display for fair visitors to view for the balance of Thursday and all day Friday. The fat stock sale could be held Friday afternoon, as in the past. With this change, and with greater emphasis placed on the and FFA county fair show by a on basis so groups that animals can be started at the right time for the show, it is felt that the junior fat stock division could be doubled in size next year. Breeding stock categories would prove more interesting with additional display time, building a greater spirit of competition where there is now often only one entry in some classes. 4-- Ronan hospital. With another county fair having passed, now should be the best time of any to do a little reflecting on the outcome, whether it be good or bad, and what needs to be done in the future to make the fair an even greater event in the county. The first thought that comes to mind is: "Why isnt the fair bigger and more attractive to the public? Then we stop to think many of the counties of the state, larger than Duchesne county, arc unable to even stage a county fair. Dm to this fact, we realize that a lot of credit for hard work and planning must go to county officials and committee members working on the fair. However, just because we are a relatively xor county, we don't have to see our fair continue as a mediocre event. It can be built into an affair that will spark the pride of county residents. Oik? or two areas that some comment this brought year in conversations we had with fair goers were facilities for home arts displays, display of industrial developments, and participation in tin livestock divisions. We realize that steps are being taken to alleviate the poor coi id a .omj that exist for displaying items at the fair. Another building is being moved onto the grounds, and will lie ready for use next year. Nevertheless, other steps are suggest I'd. one being the closing of the street in front of the display buildings. thus eliminating a good share of dust that envelopes all displays. It would allow fair visitors easier access to the buildings, and plenty of Miking is available on either end of the building without using the front. Several comments noted the lack of displays by industry' at the fair. Always a colorful addition tr the fair, the displays helo to draw crowds, and offer dealers a chance to explain the latest in modern .
