This is all a part of Patricias scheme to separate husband and wife. Frank becomes hopelessly involved, confesses to his sister then goes after Markham to get the money back. Gypsy helps him and Markham tries to compromise her by locking the door. Patricia, who has overheard the scheme to trap Markham in his den, leads Jim and his mother to the scene. Gypsy will not explain Laemmlc her presence. Things are in a pretty bad way but its Martys black eye and his glorious job of explaining that helps to untangle everything. Its a great show, clever, humorous, dramatic and throughout. Gladys George will be the Little Spitfire and Ben Erway has the role of the son of a millionaire chain store entertaining owner. of Universal personally guaranteed this vocal film and his word is surely vindicated in the results. Besides the stars the supporting cast includes George Lewis, Charles Hill Mailes, Sharon Lynn and Sam Hardy and the production was directed by William Beaudine. There is a fine vaudeville bill in addition to the picture, headlining which is Huston Ray a wonderful pianist of national and international reputation. Ray does some amazing work in connection with one of his phonograph records and also with a reproducing piano which he alternates with his own piano with telling effect. Two girls and two boys offer the added attraction feature and their act is called the Nugold Revue and offers a variety of stunts that in- clude almost every item of vaudeville. Two specialists in what the vaudeville fraternity calls hokum meaning broad comedy of the sure fire order, are Welzer and Kuban and their act is a notable one on these lines containing much 'talent Huston Ray at Pantages ent w, tists. Studio dialogue provokes wave upon wave of well provoked laughter, and there are situations of tense drama that will bring a tear to the eye. Gypsy, sister of Marty, so the story goes, marries James Ralston, of a chain cigar store company and the son of a wealthy capitalist. Ralstons father comes to the hotel to meet the bride and falls in love with her. Mother-in-lahowever, is not favorably impressed and declines to accept Gypsy socially until after she has been made over by a society tutor. These two stars have been real attractions in the silent movies but when they speak and in a comedy the very limit of excellence is obtained. Carl and personality. Six boys and a pretty dancing girl compose Pauls Hawaiians furnish the entertainment usually attributed to south sea locations and this particular act is just about the best of this class which has played Pantages for many seasons.
