Show i t THE CITIZEN 16 doubt their jeeers are still ringing in the ears of the great inventor. Edison simply replied, that light in the bottle will light up your ignoranee to the world. It has surely done so. Christopher Columbus had to carry his idea of a round world into a practical demonstration before the world could or would believe. Abraham Lincoln had plenty of room in his little log cabin to reconstruct the United States. When an advocate of free schools suggested a free school system to the people of Chicago, he was denied the use of all halls for public speaking. But he delivered his fatal lecture from the steps of the court house, and was immediately hailed as crazy. The mob began throwing stones, one of which struck him in the head and killed him. But we have our public free schools. And that is the way history reads all the way down the line. Inventors and discoverers have for some reason always been abhorred by the common people, who have been taught that all such people were possessed of the devil. No doubt medical men will term Mr. Bradford as a fanatic and impostor, but he is far from that. He holds the absolute proof in the hollow of his hand that he can perform miracles with a simple oil. But is this oil simple! It was discovered by pure accident, and no chemist has yet been able to analyze it. Mr. Bradford does not know what it is himself, but he does know that it will kill disease bacteria, and he knows how to produce it. Like electricity, we can make it, but who knows what electricity is! UNTIMELY DEATH. A deplorable accident the other night resulted in the instant and untimely death of United States Marshal J. Ray Ward, one of our most esteemed and loyal citizens. Ward had gone to Bingham to make some criminal investigations and was returning home in his automobile. It was late at night, there was no one on the road and no doubt he stepped on the gas more than he should. He approached a sharp turn in the road, lost control of his automobile and crashed into a telephone pole, resulting in his death. He lived his life and by his devotion to duty made this city a better place in which to live. His friends, this city and the state have sustained an irreparable loss, but his memory still lives. He stood for the best there is in private and public life, and the people greatly mourn his loss. Mr. Ward was a candidate for the nomination for governor on the Republican ticket, and he had a splendid chance of being nominated and elected. Lowden wins the majority of Illinois delegates, but while he is adding strength daily, Hoover still holds the whip hand in the number of 'announced delegates. F. O.
