Show 10 THE CITIZEN : ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION. The Utah Chapter of the Associated Contractors of America, in its weekly report, shows the following improvements and projects contemplated and under way: Sealed bids will be Received by the director of the department of highways of the state of Nevada at their office in Carson City, until 2 oclock p. m., August 17, for the construction of 8.35 miles of highway from the north end of Federal aid project number 14 to Carson City. Plans on file in office of. state highway engineer at Carson City, Nevada, upon depositing $15.00, $10 of which will be returned to bidder. Sealed bids will be received by the commissioner of public works at Boise, Idaho, until 2 oclock p. m.t August Id, for the construction of 10.95 miles of the state higway between Boise and Horseshoe Bend. , The state road commission of the State of Utah announces that they ex-pect'- to advertise forbids in the immediate future for the construction of 7.17 miles of highway between Nash Wash and Cisco in Grand county. This construction also includes seven wood bridges. The Bureau, of Reclamation announces that it will be necessary to postpone the date of opening the bids for this project until certain complications are adjusted which have arisen with the Union Pacific railroad relative to the removal of Its tracks. The date originally set was August 9th. Press dispatches announce that the date for the opening will no doubt be fixed in the Immediate future. The notice of Intention to pave certain streets in the City of Twin Falls contemplates a gravel surface rather than a hard surface, as first St. George city rejected all bids for the sewer in that city on which bids were to be opened August 3rd, and bids for this construction will be opened August 20th. Bids will be received by the Bureau of Public Roads at their office in Ogden until 9 oclock a. m., August 31st, for the construction of 5.02 miles of the rim road in Zions National Park. Ephraim City will receive bids until August 6th at 8 oclock p. m., for the construction of a power plant for that city. Fifteen thousand feet of 8 and h pipe will be used in this 12-inc- Ogden Union Pacific railroad to reduce freight rates effective August 20 between Ogden, Salt Lake City and State tax valuation $700,352,220; last year it was $696,061,566. Milford. Ogden BUILDING CONSTRUCTION. Three new ward chapels to Paul Paulson, a member of the A. G., C., was low bidder on the Mechanics Art building to be built at Magna for the Granite school district. His bid was $44,632. Bernsten Brothers was next low bidder, with a bid of $46,585. Robert S. Remington of Tooele was low bidder on the Methodist Episcopal church to be built at Tooele, on which bids were opened July 30. The Republic Creosoting company announce that they will construct an addition to their plant at Provo, at an estimated cost of $450,000. C. M. Conley of Pullman, Washingon the Armory bidder was low ton, and Gymnasium for the University of Idaho at Moscow. The estimated cost is $300,000. The contract for the improvement of Ivanhoe apartments has been awarded to W. C. A. Visslng. Harry L. Finch and Richard E. Rogers are the owners. Isaac A. Clayton, manager of the land Crystal Salt Co. announce that they will construct a new building of five stories to replace the one destroyed by fire. The new building will be constructed of steel and concrete. The Helper Securities Co. of Helper announce that they will commence the erection of another business block in that city in the immediate future. The State Board of Education have authorized the construction of two high schools in Emery county, the locations of which will be determined by the local board of education. announces' that an arta will be constructed at Ninth South and Main to be used for fight and wrestling exhibitions. The Geneva disarmament conferis too serious an affair ence, to be particularly humorous, but there have been one or two instances which have at least been amusing. One of these was the British request that the United States authorities do something to stop the outpouring of American propaganda against British interests in the arms conference. Of course, if standing up for American naval requirements is something which should not be done because these are adverse to British interests, then American statesmen and some American newspapers may have to enter a plea of guilty.
